I try to avoid bitterness and strong grassy tones. I drink Sencha daily and sometimes Gyokuro. My budget is modest so the quality is not a big factor. I have considered flavored Sencha but haven't had any yet. I have also tried kukicha, hojicha, genmaicha but prefer a more delicate and non smokey or nutty flavor.
Thanks very much for your thoughts on this.

I would say Gyokuro is the least bitter, least grassy, and most delicate Japanese greens that are not roasted. Bancha is just a lower grade Sencha (harvested later), it is then either just steamed, or further roasted, smoked, or fermented as in Goishicha. Sencha is probably overall sweeter even on the lower spectrum than Bancha, but there are always the exceptions, and if Bancha is expertly roasted then it might be sweeter too.

It's interesting you say that you drink sencha but avoid grassiness and bitterness. Almost all senchas are bitter and a lot are grassy. Maybe a better starting point is to ask what do you like about sencha and whether you want that in a bancha
