Apparently this is a popular way to prepare green tea in some regions, but I don't know much about it. Is there a standard green tea that people use to make this? Is there a classic flavoring mix? The ingredients I've seen mentioned most frequently are peanuts and sesame seeds. Is it an everyday tea, or only for special occasions similar to matcha?

Hi, this is daily drinking tea. Different things will be added in different places.

The basic material are green tea, black sesame, white sesame, Mi Xiang(米香), peanuts.

Tastes like matcha.

Here in Malaysia or at least the region I live, leicha is more of a dish than a beverage. It's a mixture of rice and nuts in a thick herbal paste. It has a very strong bitter and vegetal taste which can put people off.
