Cooking matcha vendor recommendations

Hello! Like many of you, we are stuck at home and cooking is an easy entertainment outlet. We are thinking of experimenting with matcha as a cooking ingredient and wondering if anyone has vendor recommendations. Japanese greens is something I tried long ago and I was never able to get into it as tea so it's a fairly unfamiliar territory for me.

Most culinary matcha that I’ve tried weren’t that great. The one exception was Den’s Premium Restaurant Matcha which I sampled a few years ago. It made amazing matcha lattes so I imagine it would be good for cooking as well.

It’s sold in 1/2 lb sizes which is way too much for me. I use an inexpensive ceremonial grade matcha for lattes and on the occasion when I need it in baking.

Thanks, I'll have a look at it! I ended up grabbing some random "Superior Culinary" matcha from amazon which ended up working out pretty well for matcha latte and matcha cake. My only complaint is that it's a bit pricy and comes in 100g pack so I'll be happy to have a look at that 1/2 lb matcha.

Sorry, should have included the link to the product: https://www.denstea.com/matcha-c-1002/p ... -2013.html

And yeah, the markup on matcha at Amazon can be pretty ridiculous. I've had ceremonial grade stuff from there that was good but overpriced compared to reputable online Japanese vendors.

O-Cha has this which is significantly cheaper: https://www.o-cha.com/matcha-powdered-g ... atcha.html
No idea how good it actually is, but O-Cha is a respected vendor.

Thanks for the links! The o-cha price and reviews looked very tempting however when I tried to place an order, I got this "Temporary Suspension of Sales To Your Country..." at checkout. Looks like there is no timeline also https://www.o-cha.com/shipping-restrict ... untries--1

Dens is probably shipping out of Southern California, where they are headquartered, so you’ll get it faster. EMS shipping from Japan is interrupted for the time bring, so vendors there are looking for alternate methods. There are several threads on shipping delays.
Japan Post suspended all shipments to...
Shipping Delays on tea

O-cha seems to be shipping again! It is through a pretty expensive Fedex option however, so probably have to buy a lot to justify shipping price.
