Heard about a tea for the longest time and completely ignored it. Yet once I tried it, it was love at first sight.. GENMAICHA!!
Buttered popcorn tea from Thes Du Japon!! The crackling of the toasted rice when the boiling water hits it..
The thick aroma that stuck in my sinuses long after the tea session. Its a tea for all your senses. Wonderful!

Speaking of love.. finally found a sencha that had no excesses in astringency and umami that I could drink all day.
TDJ has a zairai sencha from Umegashima. Thick like milk with ripe fruits and a wonderful clarity. It rolls slowly out
of my shudei teapot. I brew it at lower temps so I get a sweeter brew. It has a consistency that I can really appreciate
so I can steep this out for a long time.

Drinking green tea in the morning like a ritual is turning me less into a vampire that I was

Autumn Moon sencha from by Obubu tea farm subscription. It is a very mellow, delicate-flavored sencha that looks quite gently processed, with large pieces of leaf, and some stems, and a mix of slightly floral and fruity scent with a touch of autumn hay. It is quite nice for a mellow start to the day.

Something new for me today, Vietnamese green from old trees. The dry leaf smell and later, wet smell of this tea is incredible, intoxicating! It reminds me of some Japanese dish, dried fish flakes, but in a good way if that makes sense… ?

Got some more tea from the same source, looking forward to sample those as well. Note: I did use a gaiwan before I switched to Duanni.

It’s a powerful, not a soft tea. A pleasant bitterness shines through, a bit like in a Dancong. It coats the whole throat and lingers forever.

A kind gift sample from bok: 2 vietnamese green teas from different villages of the same region. Not sure if it is the same one described above.

Based on the info that it is from laoshan and yunnan border, it may be from the Vị Xuyên district.

A similar tea might have been described here:

Hon-Yuu bio sencha from Watanabe Tea Garden, Yakushima Island, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. Very delicious tea, even though without any umami tuning. Sencha has mostly been sought for the taste that nature gives it.

Gyokuro Karigane from hibiki-an. One of my favorite types of green tea. If anyone has a favorite Kukicha I’d love to hear about it ;)
