What Green Are You Drinking
SENCHA FROM KAWANE, SHIMONAGAO, KIRARI 31
Very delightful sencha. I had a bad bad gui feng oolong in the morning and I was not in the mood for another oolong type and this one hit the spot.

Tao of Tea "Organic Pearl Gunpowder Green Tea" according to the label.
I'm getting a kilo of "Temple of Heaven China Green Tea Special Gunpowder" next month ... and some different black teas ...
I am aware there are much better teas available out there than what Amazon sells. However, these are what I can afford ... and that will hopefully last a month (plus a week for the re-order to arrive). (sorry. small desk tends to get cluttered. )

Wow, you intend to finish 1 kilo of green tea within 5 weeks?! That is about 1 oz of tea per day!afishhunter wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 10:50 amTao of Tea "Organic Pearl Gunpowder Green Tea" according to the label.

Considering that a teabag is about 2-3g of tea, you would be drinking 9-14 bags worth of tea a day! At this amount, I would recommend consulting your doctor if this would be safe for you

My average daily caffeine intake for the past 62 or 63 years is only 2,500 to 3,000 mg.LeoFox wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 12:32 pmWow, you intend to finish 1 kilo of green tea within 5 weeks?! I figure tea will be better for me than Mountain Dew/Generic Mountain Dew. (4 or 5 liters a day, maybe a little more, when I can afford it.) plus a pot or two of strong coffee.
Any less, I get head hurts, shakes, and can't sleep.
I talked to my doc. A blood pressure log shows my blood pressure is "normal" to "optimal". She said I can drink as much mountain dew and/or tea and/or coffee as I want, but not to take over 8 of my vitamine caffeine tablets (only 200mg each) a day.
I am calling bs on this and suggest you see another doctor. Those amounts are ridiculous. Irresponsible statements.afishhunter wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 2:14 pmShe said I can drink as much mountain dew and/or tea and/or coffee as I want, but not to take over 8 of my vitamine caffeine tablets (only 200mg each) a day.
Blood pressure is not the only possible long term side effect of caffeine overconsumption and so it is generally wise to control the intake of caffeine. And as you have noted, it is certainly a good idea to avoid drinks like mountain dew, particularly at such quantities.
Your troubles from having any less than your stated amount of caffeinated drinks are clearly caffeine withdrawal symptoms. A course of action to consider here is to slowly lower your consumption, not keep consumption high to avoid these issues, since their presence alone lets you know that you are not doing yourself any favours with this habit.
Gradually reducing your intake will prevent strong withdrawal symptoms and get you to a healthier baseline in a comfortable way. Just reduce your caffeine intake bit by bit every day over a period of 3-4 weeks, replacing more and more of your fluid intake with water. Another benefit will be that you can then save money because you don't have to maintain an expensive high caffeine intake habit.

Anji Bai Cha from Teavivre
Lovely session with a bright and delicious looking An Ji Bai Cha, and a very attractive cup. It reminds me of a gorgeous purple-hued crackly glazed beauty I admired some years ago, and it turned out that the I came here to post about a particularly fine session with Obubu's Gushing Brook sencha, where for the first time in a while I decided to preheat my kyusu. The scent of dry leaf in the preheated pot was so fine that I will be remembering to do this again for a while, until I again get in too much of a hurry to take the time for this and skip it once more.
And the tea liquor itself is also very satisfying, but there was a moment when a sip of sencha and a sense-memory of An Ji Bai Cha collided with a bit of cognitive dissonance that was....not flattering to the sencha.
Need to focus on this tea, this moment, and save the An Ji Bai Cha memory craving for later.....it's a nice sencha and deserves the attention.

Gyokuro Suimei from Den's Tea, cold brewed (parameters: 10g leaf to 500ml water, brewed in a large mason jar on the counter top for 3 hours, strained and refrigerated)
Absolutely lovely, less sharp than if I had brewed it hot, and sweeter too. Seaweed umami comes through very nicely, coats the tongue and lingers for a long time. This is my first experience with gyokuro and I very quickly became addicted.
