Enjoying a wonderful saemidori gyokuro from Thes Du Japon, thick umami with not a hint of bitterness brewed at 4g/40ml, quite disheartening to hear about the recent changes as I really enjoy their tea.

TL;DR prices are now ~55+% higher for foreign customers due to a change to the website that doesn't allow payment in Yen if using an address outside Japan (their USD prices are based off a conversion rate close to 100 yen per dollar, the current is 155). Thank you for the explanation. I never noticed because I order in euros and shipped in France, had no idea you could switch currency. But what has increased for me is the custom fees, i paid 58 euro to the dhl last week for an order from thailand with value 150€. Its ridiculous! I asked the DHL delivery what why? He said he has seen this change also. There is also an increase everywhere in price for tea. I don't order mariage or dammann or other french brands but I used to before. One day I stopped by the boutique and was shocked to find the increase in prices by at least 50%. I really like the thesdujapon quality, so releived to hear the changes are not related to that.

First time o-cha order! 😍 absolutely 💯 amazing tea. I took a quick picture of my cup before I ran out for an appointment but picture does not do it justice of the real color of the infusion. Taste was very sweet, slight touch of astringency, and great after taste.

I have been drinking Jasmine green tea recently since I like the aroma of Jasmine and also helps with sleeping.

I like their teas but taking into account the overcost we have to pay for customs and handling in Spain, I would have to resize my future orders significantly!

I thought it was just france. I don't mind paying for shipping, I do mind the custom taxes. It's totally expensive ridiculous.

Finishing my remaining 2023 senchas before ordering any of this year's shincha, kirari 31 shaded sencha from Miyazaki prefecture, opens with a rich umami sweetness that carries on throughout the following steepings, which remained quite flavorful throughout. The aftertaste veered towards that of vanilla, a note I find in a couple of senchas such as one I had from the harumoegi cultivar. A rich and relatively simple tea that I've found to be a great daily tea (especially due to its lovely texture in the mouth), I've enjoyed it in all my kyusus but found it best in my new (to me) Watanabe Kokuzo mumyoi pot.
