Re: Question regarding rolled roasted teas

. Look carefully at the tightness of the roll when you examine tea before buying. +1 Several times I told vendors not to prepare a sample once I saw, huge, hard pebbles in a scoop heading for a teapot or gaiwan. I was sure those stones of tea were doomed to spend too much time in boiling water (to ...

. It doesn't matter when in the day I have sugar, if I have a session later that day it still affects my palate.
That's some effect! Surprising.

Re: 2019 Vendor List

choffman, You make sense. To be disappointing to some newbies and perhaps too blunt, I don't think there are great shortcuts. For example, one might think just to follow Victoria posts, but she does not talk much about prices and value for $ (which is a big concern for some people). I think my gut r...

Re: 2019 Vendor List

There is not a lot of activity on the forum. If people don't want to read the limited amount of posts in their areas of interest, they are just looking for quick advice on shopping which they will do a couple of times a year. I treasure the talk. I do talk about myself and my teas more than some may...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

a well roasted tea will show shades of green in the end. Good to know. Sometimes it seems that "shades", notes, hints, etc. of flavors and effects of a tea, are more a matter of how I am, than of how the tea is. If there are too many sessions when I don't pick up most of what a tea gives when I am ...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

Nice looking leaves. I just broke into my last tin of the 2016 TeaChat FouShouShan special buy, and the tea has kept wonderfully in its vacuum sealed container. So lovely enjoyed grandpa style in the Flower of Forgetfulness. Did you keep it in a refrigerator or freezer since you received the FSS?

so they can just click and buy rather than perusing each individual type of tea for vendors Braden Yeah, people like to click and buy. I have very few customers and one reason is that I don't operate from a website. People need to contact me with PMs here or through my normal e-mail and think a few...

Re: Leafy Green Tea

A few new updates here: . The unroasted is particularly exciting this year I am taking a lot of time to make final judgment but so far this Winter's tea from Taiwan seems to me to be significantly better than normal. The weather that lowered the yield also improved the taste! (Talking in general, I...

Re: When a session goes wrong for no logical reason

So I got home, If coming home was on an airplane, it is likely you would not be tasting things as usual for at least a few days. Unless you take some steambaths or spend a lot of time breathing through a wet cloth to return your crucial areas involving tasting to normalcy, that is just a fact of li...

Re: The Porcelain Thread

While I am in Thailand, I am often watching NHK World (English-speaking, public broadcasting from Japan), that often has short programs about Japanese ceramics. It seems with so much of the emphasis on pieces meant for beautiful decoration, it could be easy not to think about lead poisoning.

Re: gaiwan or teapot?

It is not only the teaware but the user that determines how preparation goes. I often use both hands to pour when using my larger gaiwans and teapots with loose lids. I've used a cloth to hold very thin gaiwans..... The goal for most of us is to have something delicious to drink without getting burn...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

I do believe that Qing Xin Wulong is better suited to greener teas than Tie Guan Yin . The latter has a natural astringency and bitterness that works well with roasting but really stands out when left unroasted. As I said, I find green TGY to be thin, weedy and vegital. Teaforum provides pleasures,...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking

Taking a break this afternoon to properly focus on and enjoy Ethan's Championship Black from Taiwan. It is excellent, thick aroma and flavor profile of sweet honey, muscat, and spices/fruit? The liquor has a nice viscosity that I also enjoy in Taiwan oolong. The aroma and flavor are complex and ric...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking

I am looking forward to my next session which will be with some dark chocolate on the side. You often mention having dark chocolate during tea sessions. Sometimes I eat a very small amount right after finishing drinking tea. About once a month, I seem to "need" that chocolate at the end of a session.
