Re: Teach me to brew oolong

That's what most of us mean when we refer to ball shape. The good news is that it is real jin xuan based upon the vein pattern I see, but a lot depends upon processing. The absence of wrinkles can indicate that it was steeped too long, too little leaf was used, or this is the end of a very long ses...

Re: Your day in tea

Thought there was a hairline in my pot. Took a closer look from different angles. Went back to older pictures. Guess there is no hairline. ./download/file.php?id=12546 Hahaha..maybe a familiar story for people with pots I think the pot is fine and there’s nothing to be concerned about. ./download/f...

Re: "Zairai" or seed propagated sencha

Been drinking through another bag of hojo tsukigase sencha every day for the past week. Been a few months since I touched Japanese greens - so it has been nice feeling like returning to something very familiar. I realize again how wonderful these wild teas are when approached at ease - not really ex...

Re: Japanese cultivars

Thes du japon has updated their post about Japanese cultivars. It now contains a very comprehensive list: https://japaneseteasommelier.wordpress.com/2022/08/22/the-japanese-tea-cultivars/  a complete list (as much as possible) of Japanese tea cultivars with their crossbreed, year of registration and...

Re: Hokujo, Kobiwako & Iga Clay

Thanks for the input. The one from Klasek comes to 99,31 € without VAT. I will continue looking at other options before committing. :D If you're in the US, consider just buying from Japan. Take advantage of the usd-jpy conversion rates right now Are there a couple shops that you recommend? Thes du ...

Re: Hokujo, Kobiwako & Iga Clay

+1, genmaicha will influence your sencha brews. I'd use glazed teaware for genmaicha, at least until you have a leftover pot to dedicate to it. No experience with the Kobiwako (want to try it!), but I think it'd be also very reasonable to go for a simple pot from Tokoname as your first sencha pot (...

Going back to last 6g of lazycat gao cong shui xian after a week of airing out. The heavy roast impression is mostly gone but the rest i mentioned before is still there. Quite nice and thought provoking tea for a good price. 20221002_220001.jpg 20221002_215753.jpg Initial impression: https://www.ins...
