Re: Cleaning: Awakening & Resetting Unglazed Ceramics / Yixing

@pedant Thanks for the advice. I will defer to using crystallized citric acid.

Re: Cleaning: Awakening & Resetting Unglazed Ceramics / Yixing

probably insoluble carbonates. dissolve with acetic acid (white vinegar) or citric acid solution. can use hot solution for faster results. rinse it out with plenty of water in the sink afterwards. just like descaling a tea kettle or coffee machine. I've descaled glass and stainless steel kettles us...

Re: My first sheng experience

I'll have to try the waiting for 5-10min technique. I do a flash rinse then go 20sec, 15sec, 20sec, 25sec, +5sec up to around 40 then maybe a +10-20 depending on strength. I typically don't go beyond 10 infusions and sometimes stick to 8 depending on time. Mind you I do 2 infusions in rapid sequence...

Re: What HeiCha are you drinking

I've got that brick, and a bit of similar 'basket tian jian' from 2012. This was what I wrote about the brick April 2019 in the Puerh topic: "It is full of coarse stems, as advertised--not a pretty tea at all--but after a quick rinse, it proved mellow, with indeed sweet malty notes, not the least h...

Re: What HeiCha are you drinking

I've never had Hei Cha before, at least not to my knowledge (maybe one in blind tea club month). It sounds interesting though and if i read correctly it's fully oxidized like black tea before it's fermented. I added these to an order recently and hope to receive them in a couple weeks. Have any of y...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

White2Tea 2019 Dangerfield. This tea has some strength that is balanced to an extent with the light sweetness, apricot flavor aftertaste. Later infusions become more astringent and bitter, but not unpleasant. I like this one now and would probably be great with a few years of age and good storage. h...

Re: Sheng and shou puers stored together

Take a look at Sistema plastic tubs. I use their 7 liter size but they have larger and smaller tubs depending on your needs. Here is the link https://sistemaplastics.com/products/klip-it-rectangular . You should separate sheng from shou. How are sistema tubs different from other plastic tubs? Over ...

Re: Is home aging a myth if you don't live somewhere hot and humid?

gregcss very nice, thank you. So it is not a problem to store different young sheng cakes together only in their wrappers? I am just curious if cakes take over each other aromas or it is totally not worth mentioning. That's what I do. Here's an example. 8 different cakes from different vendors all ...

Re: Is home aging a myth if you don't live somewhere hot and humid?

lUKAV28 I use a plastic tub instead of bags, particularly the Sistema 7 litre tubs. They have larger and smaller tubs depending on your needs. Here is the link https://sistemaplastics.com/products/klip-it-rectangular . I have 5 tubs in use, separate ripe from raw and young raw from aged raw. I use ...

2008 Dayi 8582, batch 801 from Teas We Like. Makes the sides of my tongue salivate and has good strength for many infusions.
