Re: Yixing

Yes, lid is tad darker. It gets wierder... the spout is blocked by some clay. They didn't clean it up before fireing. A full pour took 33 seconds. A bit of carefull drilling got it down to 23 seconds. Clay in the spout is quite common with this kind of peasant low quality pots. Darker lid plus the ...

Re: Yixing

Admar the style of this pot wants to be mid Qing, but somehow it feels a bit off... the lid has some unusual features. Not sure about this one. I could be wrong though. Is the lid darker than the body or is that a false impression of the photos? Yes, lid is tad darker. It gets wierder... the spout ...

Re: Yixing

So I just got this teapot in. Got it from a local auction where it was listed as 1st part of the 20th century. I have no idea if it is, maybe someone here can verify. Even if it is not, I do like it! Someone tried cleaning the inside with a cloth. Lots of fuzz inside. Oh and sorry for the blue light...

Re: Yixing vs Chaozhou teapot test YouTube video

I'd aim for quality over quantity. ML has a ton of vids, but how much worth is it of my time to watch it? Agreed but the other side of the coin is time. Making this 4 minute video cost me 15+ hours to make. Granted, several hours where wasted trying to do some cool zoom in map effect on the cities ...

Re: Yixing vs Chaozhou teapot test YouTube video

I am amazed at the range of replies I get from my yixing videos especially. From 'amazing video, thank you' to 'you didn't do a proper scientific test with double blind etc. Now you must die'. That is crazy! I hope you do not take our comments the wrong way... just please do not become an...

Re: Yixing vs Chaozhou teapot test YouTube video

I own a couple, from antique, vintage to modern. Worth mentioning that pure CZ clay is rare nowadays. Yours does not look like it's pure. Ah good to know that Dancong is the same 'wild west' that Yixing is. Will try and get to know more. Dancong is markedly better in CZ than most Yixing clays. For ...

Re: Yixing vs Chaozhou teapot test YouTube video

Bok While I agree with you in essence, the poster did say between A yixing pot and A cz pot  Yes he said it, just writing this for the sake of everyone  I agree with you Bok that I'm barely scratching the surface here. I had some takes of me explaining more about that I'm just testing...

Re: I've made some home grown tea (YouTube video)

Enjoyed watching that! Was pretty funny as well :) A lot of work, just goes to show how much craft and knowledge is involved in making good tea. The music was also a nice choice. Yes, making good tea is an art! And thanks for the complement for the music. Spent a hours on free music sites to find t...

Re: I've made some home grown tea (YouTube video)

hahaha i really enjoyed that, thanks very nice. single tree, small batch. but... red tea? it does not look like it to me. i'm thinking it dried out too much before enough oxidation could happen. I followed the instructions for red tea but yes it turned out more like a (very) light oolong. I do not ...

It does not have to be a lot of tea to be a worthwhile experience. I need to do this one of these days....
True, was very fun to do and I love having the plant to look at every day :D
