I don’t plan on buying one of his “special” red clay pots...because the price does not make sense.
How so?

Re: Introduce Yourself

WuMeiSifu Welcome! Seeing that you are also a martial arts practitioner. What are the origins of Wumei? Never heard about this style before, or maybe I know it under a different spelling, what are the Chinese Characters for it? 伍枚? That would suggest it is broadly Shaolin inspired (aren't they all ...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking

@LuckyMe agreed, Taiwanese green teas are mostly bland and usually end up as cold brew if I get gifted one. I would never buy them.

I don’t care much for green in general, but if so then Chinese green please.

Re: Tea Travel Kit (homemade)

I got a similar solution as @aet, a pre-made travel kit, originally with a glass easy brew gaiwan too ugly to use.

Kept the cups and just squeezed my travel teapot in! Works a treat.

Re: Authenticity, Objectivity, & Subjective Authenticity

Interesting musings and thoughts Ethan. I can wholly recommend the 'stick to one or two tea for a couple of days or weeks' approach. First it really gives you the chance to get a know a tea through in and out. The more experienced one is, or familiar with a class of teas, the more this process can b...

Re: Lets talk about Da Yu Ling

Not really close if it is real dyl Maybe. But real DYL costs 2-3 times more than premium Lishan, but is not really 2-3 times better in taste... in my opinion. Premium li shan tea example prize winner nt 10000 300 gram All depends where one sources tea… a third or half of DYL price is possible. Comp...

Re: Lets talk about Da Yu Ling

Many Lishan are pretty close. It is the same mountain after all, Dayuling being the highest place. I take a good Lishan any day over the likely fake DYL with the heftier price tag. Not really close if it is real dyl Maybe. But real DYL costs 2-3 times more than premium Lishan, but is not really 2-3...

Bok I'm preparing it for use now, I'll let you know.
Cheers!

I had very good results with medium to high roasted Dancong.

Re: Mei leaf

If you want to go about it in the most objective way:

Get the same kind of teas in similar pricing from different vendors and try them side by side in identical porcelain gaiwans/or competition cupping sets.

That is the only way to be sure.

Re: Chaozhou/Shantou

Also funny how the often seem to chip at the exact same spot on the spout, I’ve seen a few all chipped there. Looks not new in any case, as to how old, I wouldn’t dare to guess.

Re: Chaozhou/Shantou

Nice pot! I find CZ very difficult to date, clay looks the same if old or less old, so all the clues are in the workmanship and style. See my example of what turned out to be possible Qing although I thought it’s 80s...

How does it perform? Looks more on the rough side in terms of craftsmanship.
