Re: Lapsang Souchong
when the base tea is already top, the smoking can only make it different, not really better I guess.. but it’s so delicious:) ..but as I read somewhere, traditional smoking is becoming a rarity due to low demand.. yep, I feel the same. Yet, I have to say , smoked Lapsang is more appealing to me tha...

Re: Lapsang Souchong
The greatest shortcut is a vendor who understands what a particular customer wants to taste. ..the biggest responsibility ( pressure on vendor ) , in my opinion. I read in one tea book , saying that Good tea vendor remembers the taste of his / her clients . Although I do my best to do so, yet I alw...

Re: What HeiCha are you drinking
We got cheated from big LB producing TF recently. They claim tea to be like 13y aged but tastes like 2y old shu, not like LB at all ( like literally no basement notes but caramel sweet-sour notes ) . Means like they would have to store it in hermetically sealed storage , because when you get out of ...

Re: 100 times roasted oolong
Anytime the number 100 is mentioned in Chinese culture (and you know that probably), it just means "a lot of times" Aka 100y old egg, aka 100y business, aka 100y I forgot how long  I don't think someone will roast 100 times, just means they lack the skill to get a good result after less time l...

100 times roasted oolong
I've got a sample of roasted oolong from my friend. It's supposed to be 100x roasted. Not 88 times , not 98 time , no any other odd number, but exaclty 100 times ;-) It does make me wonder : 1) how many ( even gentle ) roasts would take to the leaf in stage of being just charcoal dust taste like wit...

Re: Age oolong 10-15 y tradition ?
nice one! I have also around 400g of Dan Cong forgotten in storage. Air sealed. I've tried last year and it was fruitier then before, less sharp ( that was the reason I didn't put it on shop ) . When was new, it had an astringency of sheng , which I found weird with DC. Anyway, so I've packed it and...

Re: Age oolong 10-15 y tradition ?
As many as you want : ) What is considered an "aged tea" in TW? like how many years? Anything below 5 years is not aged, some may say "it has a little age, you nian fen". Also because Oolong often enters a sort of akward, or flat period before five, where it becomes boring before it gets more inter...

Re: Age oolong 10-15 y tradition ?
In any case my source told me his father already used to drink aged tea all day long... just last one , if I may. What is considered an "aged tea" in TW? like how many years? Or is it like aged taste? Because in China we also have that expression Chen Nian ( aged ) but not necessarily have to be ac...

Age oolong 10-15 y tradition ?
I just stumbled upon this page and there is a claim " n the past 10-15 years, a group of oolong farmers have actually begin to age their oolong. " https://www.goldentleaf.com/7-taiwan-oolong-teas-you-should-never-buy/ Just wondering if there is any offical documentation ( like offical competetion or...

Re: Does anyone buy tea during Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales around here?
As a consumer, you don't chose your vendors' commercial strategy, you kind of have to live with it. I agree with that one, but you can choose a vendor based on comercial strategy , as Bourder mentioned here already. " no point buying stuff which is out of the discounts " . So for you , as a buyer ,...

Re: Does anyone buy tea during Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales around here?
I was asked ( as a vendor ) to do some of those Fridays, Mondays...Xmas and whatever marketing sales. As a person ( not as a vendor ) I feel it a bit not moral selling a tea / teaware for 100$ and then next day , exactly the same tea not being damaged or something what wout justyfy the sale , to sel...
