Re: Show Off Your Pets

That photo remind me of the Siamese I had growing up. When I was a boy he would come into my room and paw at my neck until I would lift the blanket. He would then climb under and stick his head out onto my pillow with me. God, I miss that cat.

Re: Specialist or Generalist (Tea Enjoyment)

I would have to say generalist. That being said, I tend to go through waves of being a specialist. I get really focused on one type then end up transitioning to another, then another, and so on . So I guess you could really say I'm either a General Specialist or a Special Generalist. Of course, that...

Re: Ruyao: What's in a glaze?

more details about green iron, please? Green rust is a form of iron oxide that occurs in low oxygen environments. It is commonly seen on the iron in underwater structures (that is the one I am familiar with). There are actually different types of green rust depending on the other elements present s...

Re: Ruyao: What's in a glaze?

interesting. so you're saying higher oxidation state iron oxide reduced to iron(II) oxide (or even elemental iron particles?) gives a blue color? blue is not a color i associate with iron of any oxidation state, so i wonder if it's actually particles doing Rayleigh scattering or something. i wonder...

Re: Floating Leaves : High Mountain Blind Tasting Sampler

Did a side-by-side grandpa style comparison tonight with 3 grams of leaf in each mug. They are all good but there is definitely one that stands out in my mind. I won't give away any tasting notes yet, but below is a photo of 3 grams dry leaf, vs 3 grams wet leaf with a representative sample of each ...

Re: Floating Leaves : High Mountain Blind Tasting Sampler

I'm curious, what is Chip's TC OTTI? A cursory google just directed me back to this thread. -Noah It is something Chip had organized on the old forums. It was called the OTTI (Official Tea Tasting Initiative). Essentially he would select a type of tea and acquire a selection of 4-5 high grade teas ...

Re: Does conventional tea taste better?

at any rate, organic generally does not mean pesticide-free or fertilizer-free. you can pump tea plants up with organic, nitrogen-rich fertilizer and achieve the same effect as injecting ammonia into the ground. This. Lots of organic farmers fertilize. They just use organic fertilizers. Usually con...

Re: Acaia Scale

I feel like I am missing something with this device that justifies a price point thats 5x what my pocket gram scale costs. I agree... I know that when pulling espresso shots timing is important and may indicate that an adjustment is needed to grind, dose, or tamp. If I already had one for that I wo...

Very interesting. I can see how people would find that quite useful.

As for myself, it's really a wash because I usually have TF opened in a tab at all times. :D

This has been and continues to be my favorite method of storing open teas that won't be immediately consumed. It is a blend of CO2, Argon, and Nitrogen
