Re: Leafy Green Tea
And the deal.... is.... DONE! Thanks to everybody who participated. Most of you should have already received your tea, with a few more in the mail or going out tomorrow (all depends on when you ordered, of course). We really hope that you enjoy the tea as much as we do. We would greatly appreciate a...

Re: Leafy Green Tea
Congratulations, you pick a great guy to partner with :) Thanks! We are very excited about the relationship and hope it continues for many years. We are starting with just a small selection for now, but are hoping to expand sooner rather than later as our company grows. Shan Lan Xi is probably next...

Or buy water in glass bottles. It tastes better that way anyway.
I'd never use it for tea since it is carbonated, but if you come between me and my San Pellegrino....

Re: Ideal temperature for drinking; ideal amount....
When drinking tea very hot, it's a good idea to take very small sips, and let yourself slurp naturally to avoid any burning sensations. This is true, and this act can actually help taste the tea as the slurping both aerates the tea better and "shoots" it into your mouth, causing it to coat your mou...

Re: Ideal temperature for drinking; ideal amount....
For tasting purposes, we often drink it really hot (freshly steeped), warm (my favorite), and at room temperature. Different flavors will be accentuated at each temperature, so it helps to get a better idea of the complexity of the flavor spectrum. That is smart & thorough. I will try to remember t...

Re: Ideal temperature for drinking; ideal amount....
In terms of temperature, I prefer to drink it around 100-120 degrees F (room temperature is about 70 for reference). I find that at this temperature it is still warm and soothing, but the flavor is much more accessible for some of the reasons you mentioned. For tasting purposes, we often drink it re...

Re: Retail Profits in Specialty Tea
Thanks for the replies here, I certainly appreciate it. While we do negotiate with our farmers, we still want the best for them! As I have mentioned in one of the vendor threads, our current oolong farmer (who is well known here at TeaForum) sells through his own site, and we were able to match his ...

Re: Retail Profits in Specialty Tea
Similar to the Everlane model for clothes, we want to be as transparent with our pricing as possible. However, we believe that this method only "works" from a business standpoint if you can compare it to reasonable assumptions about the competitors. Using Everlane as an example: They will clearly la...

Re: Oolong vendor topic
I suppose it depends on what sort of shops you're talking about. I've seen a lot of "low quality" loose leaf shops popping up, which often sell either CTC or the lowest grade full-leaf. Of course, I do not know if any of those new outfits have good tea. What I do know is that the fancier they look,...

Re: Oolong vendor topic
Is it me? Or is it that running a tea company is the new trend? Seems like recently new outfits are popping up everywhere! Especially in Taiwan, a lot of foreigners living here are launching mini-shops. As one of the most recent new outfits... It sure does seem that way! Not really sure why that is...

Like a Sencha-based Houjicha or less roasted then that?
Sounds delicious whatever it is. I can't wait until we have the time to go to Japan and really dig around for interesting teas.
