Re: What packaging is best for packing tea?
I love Chen's packaging, but my one issue is that it isn't resealable. Which packing system do you most like? Our own of course! But seriously - I haven't come across a perfect system yet. Part of the issue is because different teas and different sizes require different packaging, but having many t...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Surprise find in the cupboard of the in-laws: small paper wrapped packs of Tieluohan. Purchased a long time ago in the harbour of HK. Sounds promising? Looks delicious? Well, it wasn’t... Had some hints of rock tea in there, but not enough to be enjoyable. More of Puerh like smells, but not in a go...

Tea Competitions - Do they help?
I would love to get everybody's opinions on different tea competitions and whether or not this is truly a sign of "the best" teas. I'll leave my opinion out of it for now so as not to bias anybody. Feel free to differentiate between US-based competitions, which tend to be more broad based, and local...

Re: Transparency in tea transactions
Great post. Coincidentally I posted something very similar in the Miscellaneous section about Direct Sourcing. You and I must be on the same wavelength! In my opinion, ideally speaking, tea moves closer and closer toward the wine industry wherein the farms themselves become the brand, and the retail...

Re: Leafy Green Tea
We have officially added sample boxes to our website. Oolong, Green, Herbal, or even the whole catalog.
The oolong sample box we had previously at the amazing price of free is now $9.50 for 21g (3x7g) of Chen's tea.

Re: Leafy Green Tea
Not sure if this is ok to post outside of the vendor section, so I'll keep it here for now. We recently did a little mini-series on Instagram all about Dong Ding Oolong. I've summarized it below, with a link to Instagram for corresponding pictures: Dong Ding tea is traditionally made from the Green ...

Re: 2018 Shincha Ordering Topic
I typically develop a personal fave 5 list of vendors. What are your current fav vendors? I'm still stumbling upon different vendors and, while I would like to give them all a fair shot, there is unfortunately only so much tea I can afford and consume. I'd like to make my purchases a bit wiser! You...

Re: Mountain Streams Teas Launch Date and Spring Tea Adventure
It sounds like we (and others around here) have some similar goals on the transparency and "real tea" side of things. Best of luck!

Re: Exchange Rates & Banking Fees: Buying Internationally
I have been using PayPal for all of my international buying transactions and have noticed recently that their exchange rate has become really bad. This is a hidden fee to the buyer. Today, through PayPal, I opted to use my Visa exchange rate and it was better, but the vendor was still charged a 4.5...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
This morning I started off with hauyin chens 100 year garden bug bitten light roast grandpa style, which it did very well with. Now I'm having a small serving (3g) in a 60ml gaiwan of heirloom tea company's light roasted da yu ling. Which is really good. Buttery sweet, some cinnamon aroma off the l...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
I should have realized that in India chai means tea. After that I began ordering masala chai. If I had known about the effect that black tea has on me I could have used it for all-night cream sessions when I was in school - not as useful on vacation. Anyway, loved Jaipur and Agra but now we’re back...

Re: There's no point in rating teas
Teas definitely taste different as your tastes change, dependent on what you've recently consumed and your health... as well as how it is prepared. There are many many variables that will affect how you perceive the tea. With that said - I've never had a tea that I loved suddenly become one that I f...
