Re: The Porcelain Thread

Baiyun, I wonder if you have looked into vintage Japanese porcelain cups? Typically, the Chinese porcelain collectors don't go after them, and Japanese porcelains seem easier to find in comparison to Chinese counterpart at a reasonable price. I have not. Do they make low volume thin walled cups als...

An interesting modern evolution of the Yu Hua Long pot.

Beautiful!
Thanks. It looks nice, pours nice, and the clay looks decent. The only downside is I believe it's a reproduction.

Re: Ode to the Kyusu

It seems there's a lot of information on buying Yixing wares for beginners, and not much on Kyusu. Anyone who has been collecting, using, and selling Kyusu would like to chime in on what you are looking for in a kyusu aside from a certain artisan and aesthetic of the piece? :) I think the following...

Re: The Porcelain Thread

Here is a Japanese porcelain cup. The base has an Eiraku (永樂) mark. Not sure how old this cup is. Anyone has any idea on age? ;)

Re: The Porcelain Thread

What do you think causes these effects on texture between porcelain cups? The way the liquor flows into the mouth based on the slope of the cup and flare of the lip, or anything else? I am just at the beginning of cup exploration and find it difficult to find cups I like to begin with. Vintage exam...

Re: Ode to the Kyusu

An addition member to my limited Japanese teaware arsenals. The wide opening and thin wall gave me an idea on brewing TieGuanYin today. This Kyusu has perfect pour, zero drip, and I guess my hands are big enough to maneuver it with one hand despite of being a bigger pot. Thank you Darbotek for letti...

Re: Yixing

Hey folks, I've been lurking for a bit, but I just got my first yixing on a whim. I would love to hear what you think about it! So far the tea it makes tastes good, and I enjoy using it. It comes with a certificate of authenticity, which I don't really put much stock in. Did I make a horrible mista...

@haxxor
The underside of the lid rim looks dark purple. Is there a color difference from inside and outside? +1 on modern made.

Re: Tetsubin cleaning tutorial

@greywolf your tetsubin is from the Kunzan workshop. I can’t read Japanese, but I have a tetsubin with similar mark. You can look at the tetsubin thread.
