Gafu honshudei flat kyusu
Another Gafu pot for sale, this time one of his flat reduction fired kyusu. While the clay itself is mainly neutral, I think that the reduction firing tends to bring out more aromatics compared to conventional fired shudei(at least with sencha) Capacity is almost exactly 100 ml. Since flat teapots t...

FS: Teapot and teaboat by Gafu
Up for sale is a set of both teapot and teaboat by Ito Gafu. Depending on the year, he will make a few of these glazed kanyu( a type of crazing) porcelain-like pots in different shapes. This pot here however is a bit unusual in the fact that it came paired together with a teaboat. Somewhat unusual c...

Re: Teaware Repair Show-off
AozoraE I’ve seen antique Kintsugi pieces, it is not meant to be doused in hot water on a daily basis :) You can’t do partial cap, normally the hole tip will be covered. I had it done in China. Not aware of any western shop offering this. Thanks for the advice Bok Guess that means the pot will have...

Re: Teaware Repair Show-off
AozoraE actually, in your case a metal cap would be the better method. Kintsugi is nice but it is not forever if you keep treating it with hot water... the constant flow of hot water will erode it over time. Not to mention the gold flushed down the toilet :) I've never had anything repaired with ki...

Re: Teaware Repair Show-off
Had an accident the other day that resulted in one of my favorite pots spout chipped. Thankfully the damage isn't major and it doesn't seem to have affected the pour in anyway but its a bit unsightly imo and I'd really like to get it repaired if possible. I've never had this happen before so I don't...

Re: Y. Hiromi Woodfired kyusu
This thread can be closed now. Seeing how there hasn't really been much interest in the pot, I think I'm just going to continue to hold on to it for the time being. I may decide to put it up again, but for now I think it may just be best to take it off the market and try again later.

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
^Adding to what Victoria said, I think Gafu would be another great option as well. He uses natural shidei(no iron oxide mixed in) that he obtains and produces himself. He's still pretty young but I think the pots that he makes are just as good and sometimes often better than some of the more establi...

Re: An Ode to Czech Potters
Japan. Anagama kilns. And they all seem to know and influence each other :) Simple enough :D It's just somewhat surprising given the amount of time and effort it takes to fire anything in a Anagama(let alone build one), that it would just be bit easier to start off using a more conventional kiln. E...

Re: An Ode to Czech Potters
I don't know very much about Czech( or European potters for that matter) but from a lot of the tea ware of seen made by Czech potters, much of it tends to be woodfired. Does anyone know where the preference for woodfired pots/teaware came from?
