Re: "Red Jade" White Tea
Not that it helps your current situation much, but if I have this kind of tea I do not fully enjoy, they just become my teas to go if I just need a thermos full of something when going out to exercise and do not want to use the good stuff. I have had white teas from Taiwan and they are quite differ...

I love that second pot - unfortunately I don't have the hundred to spare at the moment, but if you still want to sell it a month or two from now, I'd be interested.

"Red Jade" White Tea
I have about 96g of this ( https://www.taiwanteacrafts.com/product/red-jade-t-18-white-tea ) unusual white tea, made with Red Jade (TRES #18) varietal leaves. It's a solid, moderately priced, interesting tea. The vendor says that it is fully handmade, which is obviously simpler for a white. I overpu...

Re: "Cha" versus "Te"
Interesting that the article specifies the word used in Hindi and Urdu as Chay. As far as I know it is written and pronounced Chai. In addition, thanks to globalisation, the word Tea has become just as common with Chai being mainly used for the version where milk is added. So an infusion of say jus...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
Today at work I brought along some Keemun Mao Feng from Tea Habitat - which is really excellent. Powerful aroma & flavor, characteristic rose/smoke/liquor profile. And absurdly cheap at around $.25/g - the one Keemun Mao Feng I prefer to this is double the price, and arguably less keemun-like. Respo...

Re: I don't think this is a patina
The issue was NYC tap water. I've been using solely Poland Spring bottled water since then and the iron-smell problem went away and the teas even taste slightly better. Whoa there. Don't go dissing my NYC tap water, now. ;) For real, though, the major factor is probably the pipes of the building th...

Re: Experiments with High-Mountain O
This doesn't line up at all with my experience of Yin Zhen. The good ones I've had (TeaHong, Song Tea) last for many steeps more than I'm willing to drink. At least 10, whereas gaoshan (of decent quality: most recently H.Y. Chen's Da Yu Lin) never gets past 7 or 8. How do you brew yours? It varies ...

Re: soapy bubbles on brewing tea?
I've seen that scum before in cheaper teas, I'd usually just skim it off and drink the tea to no ill effect. I don't think it's soap; it almost seems to be actual dust stirred up by the convection, but if a (thorough) rinse didn't get rid of it then probably not. Did you ever try scooping off some o...

Re: Experiments with High-Mountain O
I use 6g/100ml across all oolong teas and am experimenting with hotter water (just off the boil) and significantly shorter steep times. The results are very appealing. That said 1) as mentioned, gaoshan will not give you anywhere near the number of steeps as a say puer (just as a silver needles wil...
