Do you mean because it is square? There are many F1 pots with square zhongguo yixing seals.Chadrinkincat wrote: ↑Wed Jun 20, 2018 7:38 pm
Yes, but this version as far as I can tell isn't commonly found on f1. Only f1 ive seen it on was a single fb post. All others were on F2 pots and even those were limited.

You can post them on Dr.Lv's facebook grouptingjunkie wrote: ↑Sat Jun 16, 2018 6:51 pmI'm really enjoying how some pots are getting varied opinions on their authenticity. I hope Dr. Lu or another expert might swoop in and give us some definitive answers.

Re: Factory or Faketory?
My 2 cents...
First one is real, F1 1970s.
Second one looks like green label but I have some doubts about the base.
Third one, fake. Clay is wrong, workmanship all over the place (lid profile is off), the qing yin pot was not made with that seal...

Re: Clay properties of different periods
I don't have the pottery knowledge to give you a truly academic answer, but the two big things I can think of are temperature control inside the kiln, and duration of the firing. Wood fired dragon kilns were impossible to have even temperatures all throughout, so there were often hotter areas and c...

Re: ID help... Guihuasha clay
I agree! As frequently happens, we find more common ground as we open the discussion. I fret that too many of us have dogmatic beliefs that are not borne out by experience and experimentation, yet we hold on to the detriment of ourselves and others. I am glad to be in your good company. Agree and l...

Re: ID help... Guihuasha clay
The conversation is becoming quite fun :) With respect to ShuShu's point, definitely porous pots also emphasize some aspects of the tea. Sometimes that can also be achieved by muting some others, Baisao's analogy with music works quite well here. If you lower the volume of one instrument, you may no...

Re: ID help... Guihuasha clay
I haven’t found many absolutes in GFC and taste varies from person to person. With this in mind, I respectfully disagree regarding the importance of pour speed and the affinity of yancha with lao zhuni. I also brew yancha in late Qing and ROC lao zhuni as well as late '60s F1 hongni. I am not advoc...

Re: ID help... Guihuasha clay
So all in all the muting factors from the porous clay might be upended by its volume and resulting heat retention properties. Yes, multiple dimensions contribute to the performance of a pot and size/heat retention is an important one. People should not evaluate a pot only based on clay. Clay, firin...

Re: Teapot comparison set from Lin's
For studying purposes still an interesting set, I can imagine it is easy to extend it with some proper clays in that pot shape and size for further exploration! Yes. Another approach I use is to try multiple different shapes for each clay. One can try 3/4 pots of different shapes in hongni, and 3/4...

5405FC15-AD34-4B5F-BB73-834C776D34FA.jpegMy first shiboridashi. I purchased the set from O-Cha when they reopened after the tsunamI. I’m getting very good results even though the shib is glazed. Maybe technique is more important than clay. Nice set. It looks like it's inspired to the work of Miwa K...
