Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
that sounds like very interesting tea. I thought the rou gui was not so much about technique, and more about particular leaves growing with that spicy flavor in them.

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
Ketlee '2020 Indian Gushu Sheng Coin'. I bought this with an order of mostly samples about a year ago, and this is the first of these 'coins' that I have opened. It looked like more leaf than I wanted for a shorter evening session, and I was pondering breaking it up anyway when I realized the disk w...

That sounds lovely. I had a very fine triple-Rou Gui tasting myself a year or two ago, a delicious experience. Did you have a favorite?

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
Now I'm wondering: is it a common thing for black tea to be called after pine needles, like the 'Pine Needle Wazuoka black tea from Obubu? Does it denote a style of black tea?

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
Hope your days are getting shorter, and not just in the astronomical sense of solstice coming soon. Today I opened a sample of Goomtee Estate Darjeeling form Yatra, from a sample set purchased close to the start of the pandemic, and much too long neglected. Even in late 2023, this 2019 harvest is a ...

Re: Introduce Yourself
However I have been brewing the second infusions for way too long (1+ minutes). A good deal of the time during that first infusion is simply wetting the leaf so the various compounds can begin to be extracted through the water. For the second infusion, the wetting is more nearly complete, but there...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
i've enjoyed multiple tease from them over more than a few years now, and they are my go to for Japanese greens when I have a craving for something that is not part of my Obubu Tea Farm subscription. I particularly like that they have some Tsuen teas that are otherwise very hard to get, because Tsue...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
today I'm starting with some organic kabusecha from O-cha: it's my first time with this one in quite a while, and I haven't got it dialed in yet for time and temps. still, pleasingly vegetal, a hint of astringency, and taste buds are pleased.

Re: Your day in tea
I have a few Daxue Jiadao hongcha samples waiting to go... I'm better at estimating the amount of green oolong than black tea. Green oolong is also a lot more forgiving than black tea. But still, starting with a little bit and adjusting either your infusion volume or infusion time may still give yo...

Re: Your day in tea
While I have often weighed in in favor of use of scales, timers, and thermometers as something like training wheels for the new tea drinker who does not have an experienced person at their elbow guiding them, this is exactly the situation where I would encourage you to go ahead with whichever teas y...

Re: Your day in tea
It took a little while, but these posts prompted an order of Meng Ding Huang Ya yellow tea from JingTeaShop.com, since I recently used up the last of their ' Fruity Rou Gui ', and was due for an order anyway. I am glad to see that the yellow tea was available, because it had been sold out several ti...
