1000 Tea
Website, Location
A small but cozy teahouse & shop located in the inner court of the building. Good selection of teas served gongfu. Don't expect vintage puers though. Highly recommend the place.

Tea houses in Budapest

Recommendations and experiences about tea places in Budapest.

Right now I have none myself, but after my trip I ought to be able to chime in.

Re: Doped Teas - An Open Secret?

Here's a theoretical argument for why producers might have more incentive to adulterate teas compared to vendors. The vendor has more options at his disposal. Let's say that a vendor acquires a batch of tea that doesn't sell too well because it's regarded as boring or bland. He has basically three r...

... This batch has a huge amount of pectin. Drops of tea become suspended momentarily above the liquor before being absorbed into the whole.
Is this a telltale sign of pectin?

Re: Earl Grey and its children

Ahh, my route to tea started from Twinings Earl Grey teabags and proceeded into Twinings loose Earl Grey. I've since moved on to other teas, but the loose version will always have a special place in my hearth. Come to think about it, I have none at the moment. Maybe I should pick some the next time ...

Looks nice indeed! Crafty. Just be careful not to get your sleeves tangled up in those sticks and flip the mat away ;)

Re: Yee On Tea Co. - 義安茶莊

Just received my order of some cakes and samples. It was a pleasant surprise to find the neifei in one of the samples. Probably I got the last bits of the cake. It's a small detail but a nice one, thanks :) I haven't tried the teas yet but they do have a promissing basement'y smell :D Neifei in the ...

Also, discarding the last milliliters of the cup is an easy way to get rid of any tea dust that might be concentrating in the bottom. Ps. Listen to wav...

Re: Wine cabinet for storing puer

Are there wine cabinets that support the more heat & humidity environment of a typical pumidor? Or maybe a cigar cabinet or something?
