Re: Is tetsubin overrated? Looking for a small portable induction plate.
The problem is obviously that your hot plate doesn't have enough power. But you could still use it for keeping the water hot during your tea session after bringing it to boil on your kitchen stove. Out of all standard heating methods, an induction stove is the one i wouldn't use. No reason, just a ...

Re: Yixing
@Teachronicles I may have the same one, coming soon! I'll have to look into the inscriptions. Do you know any details on yours, aside from the year and clay? Also, how do you keep that shine so brilliant!?

Re: Yixing
I used a yixing teapot for the first time. I received mine bronze grade zini from chanting pines. I have one coming from Bok pretty soon. The teapot is 120ml so I put 5 grams of leaf in and the pour speed using tea was 9-10 seconds. There was no scalding myself and the whole experience was very enj...

TeaTotaling nvrmnd, I see which ones are sold out. Wow. A chang ji and gongju, and this your first foray into antique pots? What a start! Thanks, I'm looking forward to it. I wanted a selection for a lifetime of use. Pots to pass down. I don't see myself collecting any more than what is needed for ...

Re: Yixing
TeaTotaling I noticed that tall 80’s duanni pot from ZAG was sold. Did you end up buying it? I’ve been trying to convince myself to buy that LQER hongni pot but ultimately decided against it. I came to the conclusion that it probably wouldn’t see much use due to size and price (fear of breaking). M...

Re: Yixing
Mark-S How do you like the functionality of your 40ml teapot, and what tea have you devoted this pot to? I have just started to prepare this teapot, but I think I'll try a Formosa oolong with it: http://www.diekunstdestees.de/epages/63140717.mobile/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/63140717/Products/MK-TXHO...

Re: Claims about HLS/vintage/zhuni clay in modern teapots
As steanze said, and I can't repeat enough. The sub type of the ore doesn't really matter, it's more just a personal preference, interest. What matters for tea drinking 90% of the time is processing, firing, building and the main ore category. If collecting rare ores is not your hobby or interest, ...

Re: Claims about HLS/vintage/zhuni clay in modern teapots
steanze Knocked it out of the park again!! Great elaboration, clarification, and professional insight. I guess what I should have asked, is what clays perform best with a given tea? Clay purity, performance, and quality are my top priorities, next to pure tea leaves. I highly enjoy learning about a...
