Re: Yixing
That is really bad. Definitely not acceptable, especially since the crack is so obvious.

Re: Yixing
Sleepy Those holes could definitely use some gentle widening. From my experience: Get a set of diamond dremmel bits - the cheap ones from China are just fine (I've got them in a Lidl store once), and the whole set costs about the same as a single one in a hardware store. Don't use an electric dremm...

Re: Does anyone buy tea during Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales around here?
Andrew S, have you tried the hongcha from EoT? Might be my small purchase this year. I like both the Daxueshan hongcha and the Sun Moon Lake hongcha quite a bit: easy to drink, very nice aftertaste and can handle indefinite number of steep and long infusions. The Beyond the clouds I've had a few ye...

Re: Does anyone buy tea during Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales around here?
I hate the whole BF thing. It's not about being cool, it just makes me feel like a fool to buy at a regular time. But since it is here one may as well 'profit' from it...

Re: Are these half hand-made yixing teaware?
In my opinion quality/purity of clay is more important than crafting method, but of course there is a relation between the two. If "half-hand-made" refers to a slab build with use external molds for shaping, then there is usually somewhat detectable spot on the main wall where a seam was located (i'...

Re: The Essence of Tea
I usually like the TRES 8 and 18 teas from the Yuchi area quite a bit. Not sure what is the relationship between TRES 8 and the japanese planted assamica bushes: seems to be a direct descendant from them? In the case of this tea EoT say it is indeed from some of the few remaining old bushes, which i...

Re: The Essence of Tea
I've had the 2021 "Earth" Old Tree Shu Puerh last night. For all the hype that various small batch artisanal old tree shu puerhs get lately, it is still just a shu. Aromatic, yet thin, not much durability, aftertaste is a bit meh, throat feeling nonexistent. It does need a few more years to settle u...

Re: Yixing
One of them unfortunately had a chip on its rim and was reglued - uncertain of the safety of removing the adhesive without damaging the piece further. Nice pots. You can soak it in a boiling hot water for an hour or two. If it then doesn't come undone under a light pressure, I'd consider it good en...

Totallywave_code wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 2:42 amI'm pretty sure that the small begonia pot has a mis-matched lid. I'm yet to see one of those, or any nixing from that era, that actually has an air hole in the knob like that. That said, it does look pretty nice with a puffed/domed lid rather than a flat one!

Re: Vintage nixing pots
Interesting topic. Was just wondering, where would one even find these vintage nixing pots being sold? Ebay, Marketplace, local classifieds, flea markets, charity and junkshops, etc. , often mislabeled as yixing. There is plenty in Europe. Here are some examples from ebay after a quick scroll (I'm ...
