Re: Clay Kettles

20181231_223317.jpg 20181231_223419.jpg I bought this Anta pottery clay kettle from Taiwan Sourcing. It doesnt seem to change the water that much, but I havent gotten around to a head to head with my electric kettle. I do love how it pours. It is very precise and smooth. This coupled with a $20 hot...

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?

This is very interesting. The bottled water i found best here in Germany for tea is called "Black Forest" is a low mineral water from the black forest, which is very close to Freiburg (i think you mean Freiburg, not Freidburg - i don't think there is a city called "Freidburg"). I live close to the ...

Re: starting from scratch with a $450 tea budget?

bradenl123 before embarking on extensive purchases for the year, I would take up Baisao’s offer and visit him for a few tea sessions. There is nothing like learning from a pro. Baisao can teach you about tea and teaware. He’s just an hour away from you too. He was lucky to have had a teacher himsel...

Re: What to look for in young sheng for aging potential?

There are teas with older material already blended in so they have a jump start on the process. I'm a little confused. I thought old trees meant that the trees were older and had deeper roots and therefore extracted from deeper layers of nutrients and minerals (among other things). I also was under...

Re: What to look for in young sheng for aging potential?

+1 for M. Ideally you should already have years worth of teas you can enjoy now before you even consider long term investing. Your safest bet for not wasting $$$ is to buy 7-10yr old cakes that are already showing signs of good aging. YQH along with some tongs of daily drinker factory teas with hum...

What to look for in young sheng for aging potential?

I'm very new to the world of puerh, but have spent the last 5 months drinking A LOT of different teas. Young sheng, old sheng, wet stored, dry stored, bitter aweful young sheng, delightful young sheng, flat aged sheng, smoky deep complex amazing aged sheng. It is obvious to me the difference between...

Re: Favourite vessel size for puerh?

I'm going to speak up for the small guys. I don't have a ton of teaware, so I'm limited in my options. I generally prefer a 60mL gaiwan. I have an 80mL that I'll use with a friend, but the 60ml is much nicer, so I usually pick that one when along. I can't speak to how the size affects the tea flavor...

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?

I wrote a post about my year-long exploration of water. https://teasecrets.home.blog/2018/12/28/adventures-in-water/ TL;DR I mineralize my filtered tap water in a specific way. I dont understand why we can't just figure out good recipes like this. Water complicated, but it's not impossible to analy...

Today was a good day. Still waiting on some DC/DC converters so I can power it from the 12V supply and lose the USB cable. https://i.imgur.com/RExdq1c.jpg Eventually I'll make these door shelves usable for samples/tuocha/small cakes. https://i.imgur.com/4jJRRtB.jpg Active heating and humidity contr...

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?

With such a clear map I’ve got to set up to the plate and deliver  let’s see if Christmas Day or next day is a winner. I’m basically next to the Naval Academy in downtown Annapolis, so those Walmart’s are like 25-45minures away, uhhhh. Gotta walk a mile to... go on our Merry Merry Christmas ...

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?

Sounds like a scam, honestly. Even if this system can rearrange water molecules (and I'm pretty sure it's not possible, science-wise), I fail to see how it should be more beneficial than normal water. The molecules are the same, are they not? Of course. That's the immediate first conclusion that I ...

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?

I don't know if this should be a whole new topic, but what is everyone's thoughts on "structured water". I read somewhere about the guy from Mei Leaf mentioning he used reverse osmosis and a Grander water system https://www.grander.com/intl-en/ . Now I'm not trying to offend anyone, but I'm very ske...
