Re: Warming up teapots
. Another interesting recommendation I read about preventing thermal shock is a well used pot with good patina. Maybe the tea oil has benefit to prevent cracks like sunscreen or oil treating cast iron cookware? That sounds like a dangerous recommendation to follow... I highly doubt a thin layer of ...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Maybe Bok can recommend a magic clay to increase this winter’s lack luster oolong‘s body and aroma :) . Increasing leaf to water ratio and time only goes so far 🍃. Edit: referring to this winters roasted Taiwan oolong Haha, I wish there were... but I guess we have to make do and hope for better har...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Been sampling high mountain Oolongs the whole morning - the rumours are true (at least for what I tried, confirmed by the vendor) that this years winter harvest is low in yield and not as good as last year... Teas lack the typical winter body and aftertaste I’ve come to appreciate over the spring ar...

Re: Yixing
That must be from some cha dao canon, isn't it, .m.? Tea pot, a focal point, lower third right in the middle. Dear guests all around it, center proper. Well mannered folly, shoes off when atop a desk, illegal booze stowed in the wicker basket, calling in for some boiling water or something :D. Happ...

Re: Hokujo Teaware
Artistic Nippon or Isobe should have some, no? AN only really has one or two large pots up right now and only one is made out of his signature clay. From what I‘ve been told(not by AN) Hokujo is moving away from his standard yakishime pots and now is focusing solely on making more expensive ‘one-of...

Re: Exchange our "secret" teas
Teas run out every season and next season won't be the same. If a good tea is always available, it probably wasn't in the first place. All the best teas are usually low in yield. More worthy finding are usually the "secret" sources  They will manage to find the good tea each season and beyo...

Re: Black Tea Vendor Topic
The issue here, as with any “real” vs fake version is - how do you know? One needs a bullet proof benchmark to compare all candidates against. Not sure how that could be done without being close to the source and that for years... I’d rather suggest to enjoy what is available and can be afforded by ...

Re: What are some indicators of a good teapot?
@hopeofdawn one thing I’d like to add: antique glazes can have toxic substances issues, antique clay does not. That would be more of an issue for vintage teapots and their clay.
