Re: Time between steeps?

I generally have fitting music playing while enjoying tea and have even noticed that some types of music, not always what I would expect, have a wonderful effect on my tea. I think it helps with rhythm and putting the mind at ease. At the risk of sounding like an ascetic, the following is how I pour...

Re: Bao Zhong

That’s a reasonable suggestion, @Ethan Kurland. I think the only thing that would be missing is the spice flavor of baozhong, which I rarely if ever find with gaoshan.

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?

@Dresden, thanks for pointing that out. I didn’t catch that it was ppTrillion instead of ppBillion. That’s a gigantic change in scale.

Heavy metal poisoning is no joke. I’ve seen it in person.

If you give up tea & start on grain-based beverages, I suggest Postum.
What elevation do they grow their grains? ;-)

Re: Tea Leaves - full leaf or broken to pieces?

Hi Carl, Pai Mu Tan is more frequently called Bai Mudan or White Peony. Sometimes you can fine truly whole leaves but other times what you get may be flaked off of a pressed cake, which results in broken leaves. Broken leaves are normal and acceptable from a pressed cake. Bai Mudan generally gets be...

Re: Where Do You Go For High Quality?

One might wonder what it was all about really. Yet, I respond. This! And it's one of the main reasons I've been modest as a contributor. The other reason is that I have little to say that can't be learned by just sitting with tea. Why should I say anything at all if I believe in my heart that the j...

Re: Vacuum sealers?

Every bit of the packaging that I do use is compostable (pouches, cartons, fillers, tape etc.) save for the oxygen absorbers (that's my compromise) that I put in all pouches except sample sizes. The iron inside of the oxysorbs should be great for the compost pile once liberated from their plastic p...

Thanks for the deets, @Bok! I’ll add those seals to my collection and mark them as Jozan Miura. Looks like there were three generations of Jozan Miura potters.

Re: Acaia Scale

I feel like I am missing something with this device that justifies a price point thats 5x what my pocket gram scale costs. The “killer app” for this is that it has a timer and connects to your phone, correct? I can only speak for myself (though I thought this applied to most of us) but I almost neve...

Re: Acaia Scale

I only started weighing my leaves a couple years ago after years of doing it by sight. I changed over to a scale because I was surprised by how inconsistent I was doing it my eye and a gram more or less makes a large difference when making tea in small volumes. I was always able to make great tea wh...

Re: Push notifications -- a useful feature?

The only think that I think is missing-- and maybe this is already available-- is to have galleries of seals/signatures/forms organized by potter. This could be an enormous resource so long as it is carefully curated. Risks might be copyright infringement on images taken by others of these works, w...
