Re: Introduce Yourself
A large part of that cultural expanse that tea brings, nests in your very much self, mhegara . That is to say that I'm as delighted to see new members here! The long caffeinated nights and afternoons would reveal as much about the people around as they would shine lights into your own nature. Fracta...

Re: Introduce Yourself
@pepson, I (likely just as others here too) would be very much interested in hearing your experience with liu an. Oh, and very much welcome to the party, Peter .

Re: Tea delivery in winter
I don't have tonnes of experience and I don't feel like getting any, at least not when buying, say, a tong of young sheng puer. I used to ask folks to sit on the package (not literally) until Spring time. Subjecting still young cakes to unknown conditions for weeks on end doesn't sound fun. Couple c...

Re: Oolong Vendor Topic
GailC , milk oolong is market name for Jin Xuan, a particular variety of the tea plant and I'd wager that sticking with the later would yield much better teas. Taiwan Tea Crafts with teas including competition winners picked my fancy lately, but I haven't succeeded in trying them yet. Also jin xuan...

Re: What HeiCha are you drinking
Mobok , that's close to be one of the reasons that I like liu bao for. There's a basic taste profile, that of a betel nut (the analogy is an inverse for me really) and yet most specimens exhibit enough distinctive qualities making them rather unique and make me wanting to explore this kind on and o...

Masala chai
Let's settle a cozy masala chai venue here to share fine details of recipes and anything related. My recipe so far is: empty out 10 green cardamom pods into a pan, though I toss the shells in there too, chop 3cm of ginger root, crush 2 cloves and 10 white peppercorns, shave 2 teaspoons full of nutme...

Re: Tea-derived caffeine
How do you feel drinking older puer and other kinds of teas? I have less experience with old puer, but thus far it seem to have more tempered effect, maybe a notch lesser in magnitude and not as frantic. All around happy feeling is a nice state I have a tried old medicine of a puer for. I had a neu...

Re: Tea-derived caffeine
Odd ball young sheng puer junkie reporting in. I'm steeping mostly these teas all through Springs and Summers to some unique effects comparing to other kinds. It's so easy to liken those to the qualities of fledgling human psyche, rapt, stimulating, sometimes wild and strong, sometime rushy, yet oth...

A quick heads-up, Jing Tea Shop has some Sun Yi Shun liu an ca. 2003 and 2004, though listed in a green tea section. No idea how good it is.

Re: newbie stuck - what next?
Any chance there might be slovak potters that do these types of ware? I have no idea. Maybe somebody else here might have tips. Checking it with proprietors of the venues above could also give you some clues. It's your roots—yours is the research ;). Do let us know should you find something beautif...

Re: newbie stuck - what next?
Won't help you much with matching the style, but as for country of origin, there are plenty potters from Czechia and neighboring countries, e.g. https://sageteaware.com/, https://darjeeling.cz/, and https://www.pu-erh.sk/. We warned you about the many rabbit holes lurking ahead, but it'll be fun .

Re: Your day in tea
Stealing Andrew's chocolatey relation I'd recast my personal impression of that tea as a robust chocolate bar while exploring uncharted waters. (or yanchas to be more precise)

Re: Your day in tea
Andrew S , was it a hit then? :) I had exact same thing couple days back and the first time I tried that strong roasted yancha. Heavy roasted but not burnt, a thrilling experience. It tastes just as strong in a sense, a pleasant thud rather than an intricate constellation of some others samples. I'...

Re: newbie stuck - what next?
I'd say keep going, quick check your water and start sampling tea from some nice vendors (what x you're drinking topics would have plenty tips). If the infusion basket you have is too small (say less than a third of a cup) get a bigger one if that's your thing. I'd say basic porcelain gaiwan to be a...

Re: Introduce Yourself
Welcome tea-licious and caj ! Now with both faj and his brother (unlikely) caj finally here, can we get this party rolling, steeping, brewing and all the other ways of having fun? :). caj , you probably know it, but I'd advise still that the tea (inc. teaware) has plenty potential for abuse, be wary...
