Re: What HeiCha are you drinking
I've been dinged by DHL--duty and other charges. I don't recall ever paying duty (I'm in Canada) for China Post parcels. I am located in Canada too. DHL will charge a brokerage fee (20 CAD if I remember correctly), that part is hard to avoid. I have been hit once with sales tax, which was an error ...

Re: Site Feedback & Discussion
Finally, I wonder if vendor members should have a higher bar for being granted access to direct messaging than "normal" members. Here is another idea along the same line of thought: a vendor is allowed to send DM to a member only if that member has sent a DM to that vendor in the last 15 or 30 days...

as annoying as it is the current case has so far done nothing obviously malicious in public, apart from posting a lot Telemarketers do nothing malicious, they just call often. But now there are laws to limit that. At some point, a high volume of small annoyances triggers a response. Avoiding death ...

Re: Taiwan Oolong tea whole seller and old master of Yixing tea pot
we try to have well-defined, consistently-enforced rules. and we try to ban based on them. as far as i know, he is not breaking any rules. In any community or society, it is good governance to enforce well-defined rules, as well-defined rules mean well-defined expectation and encourage participatio...

Re: Yixing tea pot,Hedaohong,Taiwan
It seems to me there may be three explanations to the recent debate. Our new friend is right, and experienced forum members are fools arguing against the truth Our new friend is wrong, and unable to see the error in their ways Our new friend is trolling, and receiving attention I know very little ab...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
I’m pretty pessimistic that the current tea growing regions will be able to withstand climate change in the long run That is a real risk, for sure. It helps however that this happens gradually, and that at any point along this transition there is significant demand for tea, as well as people whose ...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
If I kept thinking about the prices at which I could have bought old puer a decade ago when I was first learning about tea, I'd be losing a lot of sleep (or, perhaps, losing a lot of sleep while trying to invent a time-travel machine). The true cost of drinking tea now is the amount you could sell ...

Re: Tea when sick
Thanks! I am now sick every 2 weeks because my child brings back the viruses from daycare, hahaha. So I am still sick but at least this time, my sense of taste was spared. My kids are now all teenagers, and the last couple of months have reminded us of how things were when they were younger, so I s...

Re: Hon Yama greens
I mentioned the Honyama, Takayama, yamakai cultivar sencha above. It was picked in late April of 2021 yet still has a lot of pectin in the liquor. Drops of tea form momentary beads above the surface of the cup. It’s peaty yet has a sweet berry flavor that lingers long after each session. It is a te...

Re: Hon Yama greens
It’s an older expression. Most people said fermentation but meant oxidation 15-20 years ago. And 15-20 years from now people might think it quaint that we say oxidation but mean enzymatic reactions. All these tea norms/conventions evolve over time. I imagine translations are last to catch up. I kno...

i mean... the arrogance of this guy thinking he's some hotshot investor that can just jump into anything and make a quick buck without any research. without perseverance, either -- he self-imposes time constraints for each trade venture. of course this guy is getting ripped off. good thing this is ...

At least they don't think you're doing drugs... Well, weed is legal here now, actually sold by state-owned shops. Getting bits of dried grass from the opposite side of the world is probably more suspect nowadays. Since I always looked so much happier and more awake (caffeine anyone?) after dr...

Re: Your day in tea
You sound like a Taiwanese boss :) If not in the office, most companies will have at least one tea table somewhere on the immediate premises. And tea gift boxes ready somewhere in a cupboard. Here, people cannot recognize tea if it does not come in bags. My brother always jokingly refers to it as "...
