Re: Cakes ID

If I was going to play the pu-lottery on any of the Alibaba Group platforms, I'd pick Taobao/Tmall over Aliexpress in a heartbeat (even more so for factory stuff!). The mentioned JD.com is another option. With agent fees and shipping much more reasonable than before I have a hard time understanding...

Re: Cakes ID

Gotcha :) Do share your experience with the teas, if you end up taking the plunge. Will do... and in fact i'd like to, then again... i received tea offerings from this same source before ( although back then it was 1996 Ying Kee sheng, some 2003 loose sheng? and some more recent productions ) and b...

Re: Cakes ID

The last one is readily available from JD.com/Taobao etc. at around CNY400 per cake. (I assume it's this 2012 tea, unless they used the same wrapper for a number of years.) The others... Do you have better (bigger) images? Having a hard time deciphering most of the strokes of the characters, except...

Re: Boiled tea

I always boil the spent leaves of any kind ( 10-15 boiled + 1-2 hours rest ) . For sheng i either use 12-14g or - as of late - 25-35g on my sessions so i already have two stainless steel pots of different sizes for each ( 14/35 ), this way i can get as much as 5L of perfectly enjoyable tea... and it...

Re: What HeiCha are you drinking

huh, I didn't notice or detect any actual buds or flowers or oil aromas in this tea at all. I'll try and look specifically for it next time, but compared to say liu an where it has aglaia odorata buds specifically added I didn't see or notice anything. I had sort of assumed it was the tea grade, li...

Re: What HeiCha are you drinking

do you know what it is about the orchid ones that wouldn't meet EU regulation compared with the others? It all boils down to anything "extra" on your tea, from chinese orchids to golden flowers to essential oils ( this one affected GoodTea's taiwanese Shan Cha which he no longer can import, what's ...

Re: What HeiCha are you drinking

I can't remember, maybe goodtea had the same ones at the beginning and they sold out quickly because they are cheaper - the rest of what they've gotten I think is on the higher end and I've only seem it for sale from them. I only gotten the 2011 loose one from them, and I haven't tried it in a bit ...

Re: Where to get Authentic Jin Jun Mei

Just saw this and... based on location and AFAIR the best Jin Jun Mei version a westerner can get ( or among the very best ones ) would be the top grade ( i think they called it "exquisite" ? ) from WuYiOrigin . You can buy straight from the producer ( their website ) or try some western based sell...

Re: Pesticides: Are Chinese and Indian teas safe to drink?

Update on this in today's news in the Taipei times: https://www.taipeitimes.com/News/taiwan/archives/2020/12/23/2003749232 Various tea shipments stopped to enter Taiwan from Japan, India, Vietnam and Germany due to excessive and prohibited use of pesticides... Black tea imported from ... Germany......

Re: What HeiCha are you drinking

No package I've sent to Germany has ever been opened, so I think you've got me confused with someone else maybe? I stand corrected then, sorry for the confusion. I know that conversation was on Discord's CommuniTEA and it was a vendor that mentioned that particular incidence so with you being the o...

Re: What HeiCha are you drinking

I've actually had no issues sending to Germany: the one issue I had was when I printed a label for someone's old address, and the package took a long time to come back to HK. Entirely my mistake. Germany has been one of the least problematic destinations of all for me! Failed to mention that on you...
