Re: Yixing / Clay pot purchase advice within EU

Look at fleemarkets, local classifieds, etc. Download pictures of catalogues for F1, especially from the Green Label era, those pots pop out once in a while, and so do old European export LQER pots. Keep your eyes open and you'll find a good pot eventually. Or go new, and be ready to spend a bit mo...

Nixing or Jianshui. Ordered form china, you'll only have to pay VAT legally under 100$. VAT these days is applied to anything & everything, no matter how small the amount. Moreover: customs over have have the obnoxious tendency to circumvent the law: they charge you first based on whatever their cr...

Assuming this ain't a tiepai and we can trust the wrapper... ... these two pages have some (Google Translate friendly) info about this tea: https://bababu24.pixnet.net/blog/post/210323675 http://taishunhe.com/01xghytbzcp.htm The second link is a vendor, selling the tea for around USD 400 a cake. Yixing / Clay pot purchase advice within EU

Been reading around the Yixing megathread & speeding through the Yixing advice but so far can't find anything fitting the parameters i'm looking for and even suspect i might not be alone on this so will just break away from the shadows where most readers comfortably stand : Reading most of you talki...

have you tasted this? got pics? Just noticed now... sorry i didn't notice this earlier. Yes did taste it already. Lots of cups ( lost count, certainly more than average shengs ), nice looking dark color... and think i'd be inclined to say it tasted nice if it wasn't for this omnipresent ( did 2 lon...

Re: can astringency affect taste?

akedomakona Would be nice if you opened a thread focused on this mythical creature called "sweetness" applied to tea. As much as i've chased this particular unicorn and even after going through conceptual mashups like the one from Teavivre or the sources suggested at the Wikithing plus challenging ...

Re: Lapsang Souchong

Maerskian, I haven't had any of the smoked Lapsangs from Wuyi Origin, but have enjoyed their unsmoked Old Bush Lapsang. Their entry-level version from outside the Wuyi protected area was also pleasant. Like some of you, I had a couple cheap smoked Lapsangs when I was just getting into tea that comp...

How does it look ? ( CNNP/Xiaguan from 2001-2? )

Supposed to be made of 1999 Yiwu maocha pressed into an iron 400g cake around 2001 or 2002 . Even received a sample of it i need to taste some weeks from now.

Not really familiar with how it should look but wondering if anybody has something similar on their stash .

Re: Lapsang Souchong

My thoughts exactly, was wondering if smoked versions were deemed as the truly traditional way to do it instead by reading the opening post . From the link shared by Bok: A: Can you tell us a little about the history of Lapsang? J: Lapsang is over 400 years old already. Yet the Lapsang we see in th...

A good Lapsang shouldn’t have any smokiness… that is the misconception.

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Tea Encounter 2020 Tong Qing He ( test cake, still not for sale anyways ) : same as 2020 TE's Bang Dong this one has been through strong shaqing therefore it feels more like a chinese green tea and as a matter of fact smells very much like one . The smell from the wet leaf is very much like boiled b...

Re: Cakes ID

You can regularly get single cakes on TB for 39-100 kuai (about $7-20); you can even find purple zijuan cakes in that price range. Depending on how you order through Taobao (using an agent, or say, friends in China who will transship for you, but don't want 100kg of tea in their apartments) the tra...

Re: Cakes ID

Balthazar Just out of curiosity: could you post a numerical example of a particular "bargain" cake bought off TB ? . It's been many years since those TB group buys and fees by then were different, right now i'm unfamiliar with 'em and just wondering about it. I have this one example on my mind and ...
