Re: Characteristics of good gaoshan?
Pro-tasters also do not sip, but slurp the tea in with lots of air and then sort of gargle inside the mouth. No need to spit it out as with wine though! This is a point I always found somewhat odd because in my own anecdotal experience slurping and over aerating tea in the mouth gives a s...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
Drinking the Satsuma Sae Midori again. Enjoying it more this time around, probably because I was expecting the oceanic flavors this time, not so much of a shock. :D Its quite a shock if you aren't expecting it with those umami rich senchas, my mom always asks me if im drinking shrimp broth again wh...

Here are the specs of the water I use for tea, Serra da Estrela brand, its good if a bit flat, feels the most 'neutral' out of the ones I tried

Been drinking Ocha's Satsuma Sae Midori, getting a lot of umami and overally brothy flavours, it also seems very forgiving of parameters, I'm predicting I'll go through it very quickly

Tried some of Tillerman's winter Lishan today, never had taiwan tea before so it was a treat, was surprised by the longevity, got quite a few steeps and put them in a bowl at the end to extract the last bits in there, beautifully floral and full.

What do y'all do for single hole pots? I'm having trouble with the hongni that I got a while back, I can't use it without the tea getting stuck in the hole. Is there some really easy solution that I don't know about? There are a few things that help, pouring a bit slower instead of tilting it verti...

So here are the pics of the Hong Seong-il pot I got from the fundraiser, debunix's photos are much better but I thought I'd share anyway  was surprised how thick the walls are, beautiful little pot Doesn't show up on camera but some of the dark specks have a sort of oily irridescence to them, r...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
Yutaka Midori fukamushi while not a particularly difficult to brew sencha can still easily be messed up. Even after 1000s of sessions with this selection, I can still mess it up ... usually too much leaf ... after finishing off a bag of more forgiving Sae Midori. Then I remember to back off a bit i...

Re: Favourite vessel size for puerh?
I too started using bigger vessels for puerh, nowadays 120ml but even that seems small at times, sometimes a 150ml gaiwan if I want no muting, for young sheng for example. One thing I notice in higher ratios though is that accentuates 'special characteristics' that a tea might have, be it a cooling ...

Seems to ...

Having some 2004 nan jian phoenix aroma that was included as a sample in my teapals order.
Strong tea, dont want to imagine drinking it young, strong camphor and aged out smoke, very pleasant, think I'm going to do an overnight steep to finish the session.
