Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

EoT's 2019 Spring "Singularity" Gushu: Oof, I rarely ever notice teas that have a strong qi but this one. My forehead is heavy and I'm going to take a power nap. This one is sweet and spicy, in the past I never noticed the spices in these teas but they are there esp in puerh. Nite Nite :D Good to h...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Rookie mistake of the week: I poured my water in my yixing teapot, poured out the hot water in the fairness cup. Instead of a rinse today I was going to drink the first steeping. So I pour the first steeping in the fairness cup and didn't notice it had almost filled it up. Pour some into my teacup ...

I brewed it 10x, out to just under 2 minutes, using a 100ml gaiwan and 7g of leaf. About 10s between steeps though I miss that window here and there.
Do you mean you drink all of the boiling tea you just poured out in 10s, then prepare the next infusion?

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Just opened a cake of Yunnan Sourcing “Ye Sheng Cha” Wild Tree Purple Tea of Dehong. I placed a couple of large (for me) orders from YS US site in the spring as I was falling down the pu'er rabbit hole. So far this is the best sheng I've had from the lot. I brewed it 10x, out to just under 2 minutes...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

First brewing of Yunnan Sourcing 2019 Heng Tong Hao “Dragon Cake”. Was free from YS US site with $200 order. If I was to recommend a Shou Pu’er as someone’s first foray into Shou this would be a keeper. It’s not overwhelming, has no wet pile taste though has a touch of malted sweetness to make it a ...

Re: White Tea & Britney Spears?

Thankfully the celebs either don’t talk about it, or more likely, don’t drink fine loose leaf tea. Imagine if Drake was being interviewed after breaking into an aged Sheng cake, which he prepares in an ancient yixing pot and sips out of a small tea cup? My gosh the idiots would be everywhere includi...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Beautiful composition (not to mention pots!) as always, OCTO. It's rainy here too, and the body (or rather the mind) is exhausted after a a long week of too many work hours. On such days I go for safe choices, today's was the 2003 Zhang Xiang Qing Bing. Still find it to be a really satisfying one. ...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

TGIF!!! Having a warm and calming brew of 80s CNNP Shou Bing (ripe). Extremely well kept and aged. No signs of dust nor foul smell from poor storage. Dry stored in Malaysia. Drinking this PuErh on a cool rainy night really keeps the body warm and extremely calming for a tired body. Looking forward ...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

2005 Zhong Cha Red Star 7581 from bitterleaf tea, very good clean smooth ripe earthy date-y all round very lovely flavor the only small hiccup was me cutting my thumb open trying to pry it apart! :) As long as the tea tastes good! I now use this thick glove when holding the cake while I pry it apar...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking

Had a few tasty sessions with Maiko’s Shincha Kinari refrigerated since 2016. It is still very good, probably mellowed out in storage. It’s an Asamushi (lightly steamed) and Yabutika cultivar. Very smooth, sweet and thick, macadamia nuts warming profile. When I had another pack fresh in 2013 and 20...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

I've always wanted to try a tasting group and thought it would be interesting to do so via Zoom or similar app, with some members here. Between 2 and 5 people would probably be good. While I'm posting this here in the Pu'er forum, I may reference it in the "Groups, Clubs & Events" folder ( Victoria ...

Re: Stepping it up in Quality

Thanks for the responses! I love reading different perspectives. I should clarify something - all of the tea I have on hand is good, I like it, but after recently having some 'better' tea I'm feeling like I want more of that. I consider myself still relatively new to tea. A really easy comparison to...

Stepping it up in Quality

I've been drinking good loose leaf tea for 10 or so years and I would say I'm fairly budget-minded; not cheap, but as I tend to have 3 tea sessions a day I do think about how much I want to spend, daily, and then find mid-range tea that I like. It has generally worked for me as I'm usually quite hap...

Re: Best water for brewing tea is Natural Spring Water and it's free

I found one on the map that isn't far from me. I ride my bike by their often so the other day, while still riding--albeit slowly--I look around at where it can possibly be and it wasn't obvious. I had bike shoes on and with the cleats it's not comfortable walking all around to see if I can see a spo...
