A little teaser of what is coming next…. One of my favorite carvings on a teapot.

Very interesting, it almost looks like a sculptural relief. I am looking forward to learning more about the teapot on which it is carved.

The lid carvings are on little SpongeBob... hehe.... the carving on the lid also extends to the side and back (neat handle) of the pot.

Cheers!

Yes I meant the square pot! I like how the carving on the lid and body is connected by just one branch.

Re: Engravings, Carvings, Calligraphy and Others

Very nice pots! I am loving the variety of styles.

@OCTO that Da Han Jun with carving on the lid is really nice. Pots with lid carvings are not very common, and in this case the carving matches very well with the shape of the lid.

Re: Duan ni and friends

I've been enjoying all of these photos; here's a slightly closer-up picture of mine, in case it helps (I really need a macro lens for this...). Nice clay! I am curious about when people use duanni (old or new) to brew teas that require 'muting'. The pot is currently finishing a brew of a light-styl...

Re: Yixing

I've been playing with big pots for old tea for the last few months as well; definitely a different experience to my usual <160mL pots... But while I've tried old puer and old liubao in the big pot style, I have not yet tried old liuan... It feels like a small pot tea for me, for some reason. I hav...

Re: Yixing

I brew and slow boil Aged PuErh, Aged LiuAn and Aged LiuBao. Sometimes a combo of my quirky blends.... hahahaha..... Their heat retention is pretty amazing. Hence a good candidate to bring out the aged flavours in these old teas. Coincidentally, I seasoned and prepared the pot with HongCha for abou...

Re: Duan ni and friends

The teapots with carvings are usually a bit larger, 200ml+

Re: Duan ni and friends

Thanks for the photos Andrew S and Bok - lovely pots. just from a purely visual perspective I love the grain and color palette this clay produces. I have noticed how rare older duan ni is - I'm guessing under old firing methods it being a more sandy clay it was difficult to work with or broke quite...

"明月一天凉似水"

Seems to have been used frequently by
陈煌图 and also 孟臣。

This one's supposedly made by a 严祥, if I'm getting the leftmost characters right ("严祥制")
Thanks!

Re: Yixing

Picked up an interesting Zhuni pot, not 100% sure of its age. Do you think its from the 80s, 90s or totally modern? I'd be great if I knew what it says at the bottom  It has a bit of lid play and looks handmade from the tool marks inside. The mica dots look a bit different from the modern ...

Btw did you see the FB gongfucha post discussing all his DMing? Guess that is why he has been so quiet here.

Re: Yixing

Don't know enough about how the clay should look, but seems to me the knob is different/wider in his pots of this style, the top of the handle is never wider than the base of the spout (which also has different proportions), the stamp is also much more evenly applied (or is it an inscription in the...
