Re: Online tea stores dispatching from within the EU?

I have a lot of trouble with customs as well, I just keep that added cost in mind when buying, if it goes through good, if it gets caught at least I was expecting it  Whenever possible to keep it under the ~20eu threshold (includes shipping) it's exempt. Avoid fedex and similar services like th...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking

Opened my bag of aoi asamushi from ocha, really nice change of pace from the 2 fukamushi I had before (sae and yutaka midori)
So far it's been 3 for 3 on the teas I saw reccomended in the shincha thread :)

Had some 2018 Rou Gui from lazycat, great balanced tea but I've been a bit under the weather lately so couldnt taste all it has to offer.

Re: Ode to the Kyusu

So I finally succumbed to peer pressure and decided to get a japanese teapot  Back handle pot from Tsuchihira Eiichi via Artistic Nippon, it's listed at 140ml, probably closer to 110 usable, great for solo drinking Was in need of a pot capable of brewing fukamushi, previously I was using one of...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking

Where do you live that it took that long for your order. Portugal, sadly tea in general has been a problem regarding customs, not just the waiting part, but the tax part, its adding up to becoming real expensive in relation to the value of the tea. But ive learned my lesson, with o-cha it isnt too ...

Re: Korean Teaware Showcase

Sometimes Gallery Daunjae has some. And a few others to pick from. Ordering was easy and painless, good and fast service. Also seems to me that cross inspiration is quite heavy among Korean potters, so a lot of them use similar styles and methods, so if you are not hung up on Seong Il... Thats true...

Re: Darjeeling tea drinkers - do you have preferred estates?

I am by no means a conossieur, usually get it from a local store so I'm stuck with what they decide to stock each spring come FF time, last year it was monteviot and stendhal, this year it was risheehat. Best one so far was probably stendhal but I assume my local store doesnt exactly get the best po...

Re: Longevity of Tea Leaves: Sustaining Multiple Steeps

If an hour or more will pass between infusions, I spread the wet tea out on a plate to get air. I have often found liquid in a pot that I thought had been emptied of fluids and even found pearls holding liquid inside. I do this to avoid bitterness or whatever else can ruin future infusions. I have ...

I've seen plenty of those, usually in older cakes of sheng or shou. It's from those big woven plastic bags that are used to carry mao cha and tea I think!
+1 see them all the time, have a cake that's just filled with them

I have some identical ones and they all tested positive for lead leaching. The 3M tester was bright red, so not a small amount!

Even in the ones with glazed white insides?
I use some 70s/80s Macau stuff on occasion, might be time to test them
