Re: Yixing
Teachronicles Oh noooo! 🥺 How did it happen?? Did it take an accidental fall?? It pains me to see, I can only imagine how hard you must have taken this. I feel your pain. Thankfully the repair looks to be on point. It was rough when I first noticed them, forsure. At first I thought I had caused it ...

Re: Yixing
TeaTotaling yeup, it's the Zag one. Mark-S yeah it was more than $150 Victoria the hairline on the side only goes half way up the pot, starting on the underside actually. That is why the staples are only in the lower half. I'll be away from home till tomorrow evening, I can get a pic of the inside ...

Re: Yixing
http://imgur.com/gallery/cqa9AJk Alright. Here it is, my repaired LQER zhuni, done by Nissan Haque (knjitea on instagram). Sorry the pictures arent sequential in the hairline and then corresponding repair. Staples in the lid and on the side body, as well as a silver ring around the bottom of the lid...

Re: Jian & Tenmoku Bowls
Maybe I’ll just have to do some looking the next time I manage to make it to Taiwan/Japan. Ive heard of stands at the side of the road in taiwan and Japan selling tenmoku cups for much cheaper than you'd be able to get them at online Western catered vendors. So that might be a good idea to wait. :o...

Re: Yixing
archimon That 1st pot doesn’t look like pure hongni. It might be zini coated inside + out w/ hongni which would explain why it is so cheap. The second one is definitely a significantly better pot since it is pre-77 hongni w/o any additives. The EOT pot is a poor choice for Gaoshan due to muting pro...

Re: Yixing
@Balthazar Ime, people that fall deep into the rabbit hole of pot collecting, don't skimp on tea quality either, tho of course there are exceptions.

Re: Yixing
For me, good clay comes purely down to its affect on tea. For me, in my experience, with yixing wares ranging from LQER all the way up to modern, including f1 60s, 70s, 80s, and white label, excluding laser label. I have found that most prominent effect I notice is textural, with actually a modern z...

Re: Yixing
Bok, and anyone else with experience. Does LQ/ER clay take time to awaken, before it really shines, as opposed to aged clay used for making modern pots. Bok, I know you mentioned in the other thread that 60's Hongni took a little time to come into it's own again. Linear thinking would have me to be...

Re: Yixing
Teachronicles Thank you! I am very careful to preheat all of my teapots, I don't like to cut corners, especially getting acquainted to the older pots. You might wanna ask zisha art gallery of they've been "woken up." If not, I will soak them in room temp water overnight to saturate the clay, before...
