Re: Anyone know what this is??? (plastic in cake)

one quality predictor is if the leaf's from gushu (old trees). there's plenty of good tea that isn't gushu of course. Just to note that there's more gushu demand than supply, so be on the watch for cakes claiming to be gushu. Of course the ages of trees get exaggerated too. A tree that was 500 year...

Re: Anyone know what this is??? (plastic in cake)

pedant I would say this is probably a good tea for the price in the sense that it’s 20 years old and doesn’t taste bad..Only assuming of course because I haven’t experienced any other 20 year puerhs. I can say the customer service at GTH is very good, fast shipping too. I will definitely try more o...

Re: Anyone know what this is??? (plastic in cake)

ime, cheap, lower quality shu (ripe) cakes have been the worst in terms of 'mystery prizes' This is the Blue Mark from Global Tea Hut. Would you consider this a low quality puerh? I was assuming it was better quality based on suggestions on this forum but maybe they just meant “I like the taste” an...

Re: Anyone know what this is??? (plastic in cake)

it's just a random piece of plastic garbage in there. there is no significance to it. debris ends up in the piles of maocha and therefore it ends up pressed into the cakes. all kinds of crap, like Baisao said. i'll add to the list toenails, feathers, small pebbles, you name it really. kind of gross...

Re: Anyone know what this is???

Looks like a piece of the standard wrapping bags things are shipped with in China. If you order something from taobao it is usually wrapped in this very smelly plastic, not to forget the dust from the roads :) This has been inside the tea cake since it was wet. Are you saying this is normal? It’s n...

Re: My Puerh Order (all samples)

Looks like you are in the lucky position to like what most others do want to avoid in a Puerh. If you like those kind of flavours, I would go to the bottom of the list and buy cheap or freshly harvested Puerh. The better the Puerh, the less you will find the things you seem to prefer. So, lucky in ...

Anyone know what this is??? (plastic in cake)

There is some sort of plastic string wound throughout my puerh cake. It is supposedly 19 years old...if that helps. I saw a little piece sticking out and pulled it. It started coming out more and more and seems to be all over in the tea cake.

Re: My Puerh Order (all samples)

So I received the 2000 Blue Mark today from GTH. I do not like this one as much as the Sheng Dragon Pearls I tried last week a few times. The Blue Mark had no astringency (I like the astringency) and it was not as complex either. My first impression was “tastes like an attic” which was cool in its o...

Re: My Puerh Order (all samples)

Not sure silver with shou or humid sheng is a very good match. Last thing you want is for the funk to be amplified. [/quote] I think I might want the funk amplified...I might like it. I plan to use the silver for everything...then if I don’t like the experience of a certain tea in it, I’ll use a ga...

Re: My Puerh Order (all samples)

I’ve only had 2 puerhs. One loose ripe and one raw pearl. The ripe was extremely refreshing like fresh mineral rich soil. The raw was like a puddle near a sewer drain...with a small carcass floating in it. I loved the ripe immediately and the raw quickly grew on me after the 2nd session...rotting c...

Re: My Puerh Order (all samples)

I'm new to Puerh so can't comment, but I also bought a bunch of samples from a couple of vendors...and after having just two of them went ahead and ordered cakes of each (loved them...I mentioned in the Puerh drinking thread). Given my experience with buying cakes of what I like, and with how many ...
