Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
I've been drinking all the shou this week and last, both at work and at home. (Have a cold that looks like it'll be sticking at the hacking cough stage for quite some time, so I need something nice and thick to drink). This consists of far more sessions than I usually get through in two weeks. * W2T...

Re: Is white2tea the only puer producer now?
I find it quite easy to buy things there, as by now I know that I'll like a high proportion of what he puts out, and the notes that he does give are usually enough to increase the odds. So it is fairly safe to just pick a load of samples and a couple of cakes whose wrappers tickle my fancy and know ...

Re: TeaLife.HK -- Classic HK-style Teas!
On the traditional side, I'd pick the 2002 7532, 2001 7542, 2005 8582. On the dry side: the 2007 CNNP Yiwu Big Green Tree, the Changtai 65 or the 2008 Spring of Menghai! I wouldn't say any of the raw cakes I have up are remotely smokey! :) Thank you! I ordered samples of some of those and a variety...

Re: TeaLife.HK -- Classic HK-style Teas!
Jay, if you were going to recommend one of your current raws, which would it be? I'm looking for sweetness with some complexity (whether bitterness or pepperiness or something else). I generally don't like smoke that much. I find it much easier to pick shou that I want to buy from you, but get lost ...

Re: Where to get teapot filter?
I made a little spiral filter with 999 fine silver wire (probably only useful for people who already have some in the house!)
Tingjunkie on the old forum mentioned it. You use the two ends as the prongs and springiness keeps it in place.

Re: Travel with Teaware Like a Pro
I take my cheap clay pot with me when travelling and a cup, but just wrapped in bubblewrap in a laptop backpack (so it is pretty well padded itself).
Yours looks very good!

Re: 2018 Shincha Ordering Topic
We've had the Sae Midori twice now and are enjoying it. Compared to our last shincha it indeed doesn't get as bitter if you steep it longer, and it has about the same longevity - does about 750ml of steeps from a teaspoon of tea (I don't tend to weigh green tea) before tailing off quickly, though we...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
I've been having ToDoTea's Jin Xuan milk oolong at work. It is nice steeped Western style but it was really impressive in a gaiwan. Very creamy mouthfeel and went for many steeps. The name had never made sense before. (It is on my list to eventually try more Jin Xuan and other high mountain oolongs,...

Re: 2018 Shincha Ordering Topic
First time ordering from O-cha, I got Sae Midori and Chiran (as my OH likes a fair bit of astringency in his greens).

Re: Humidity Control: DIY Salt Packs
I am interested in the answer! I could buy Tyvek in A4 sheets, or rolls of fabric (or, amusingly, whole-body coveralls) for a lot less than a minimum order of envelopes which seem to be much less common here, but if I can use fabric I already have... It looks like Tyvek is breathable, but less so th...

Re: Is it ok to leave tea in my jianshui pot overnight?
I do it all the time with my clay pots, because one session for me is usually 500ml water, and nothing is steeped out at that.

Email notifications of replies to watched topics currently just tell you that there has been a reply, but don't contain the contents of the reply - it would be a lot more useful if they did. (I use several forums that way, and check my email more often than the forum, so it's handy to be able to see...

Re: Humidity Control: DIY Salt Packs
Does that lid have a plastic or glass top in it, or is it open on top of the Tyvek? I was assuming open, but the website isn't clear. I think I've only seen glass lid + wire clasp versions of Mason jars.
