Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
A tea difficult to understand but easy to love: Boseong County Hwangcha ('Yellow' Tea) from Korea, from the steeping room. In my brain this tea is like a blend of two different oolongs and two different green teas. It has a very creamy texture with a grainyness to it. The green tea side has florals,...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
LeoFox, I can't speak to this tea in particular, however, most Indian "oolong" teas really aren't oolongs at all. To be sure, they are partially oxidized, but they are made using black tea methods, not oolong methods. I've found that other places too. I'm not sure if anything is truly standardized ...

Re: What are your bad habits during tea sessions?
I find it fascinating that all have similar bad habits. At least we can say that its a common problem. I may never leave my phone in another room while having tea but i aspire to...

Re: What are your bad habits during tea sessions?
klepto intrigue topic of discussion, almost feels like a support group lol. The two habits that I am trying to change are not to start a new brew before bed time. Although the tea still taste good after I wake up the next day, I am sure it’s not as good as freshly brewed and caffeine disrupts the q...

What are your bad habits during tea sessions?
Many habits form from doing the same act over a period of time. Some are good habits and others not so much.. One of bad habits is lack of patience, I am in such a hurry to go from leaf to pot to tea that at times I don't take the time to properly enjoy or prepare the tea properly. This happens I ha...

A wonderful 16g sample, Wild Taiwanese Sencha: Cultivar: Taiwan #8 (Assam?) From: Taoyuan Looks similar to Tai Ping Hou Kui and has the similar orchid aroma but the taste is a bit different. I used Leo's sencha brewing times with success. First steep: Perfect level of umami for me, floral but with s...

Re: Your day in tea
The day was becoming night and I wanted to relax with some nice hong. I had a guest who decided they wanted tea also. I had already picked a tea for myself previously so I knew this was going to be a problem as I choose softer and sweeter teas for them normally. This Taiwanese hong was quite good an...

Re: Plots with pots
For all the years I watched both Chinese and Japanese tv shows and movies since my childhood you'd think I would have been drinking tea and have a storage locker filled with teaware by now.. Ugh never mind.. Drinking tea straight out of the pot.. oof.. I hope he's drinking some green tea that requir...

Thanks @aet, I made an attempt to sample everything I was interested in although it was hong cha and oolong.

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
First order ever from Tea Habitat, hong cha not dancong: 2021 Wild West Lake Jiu Qu Hong Mei: My feeling for it went from hate to love rather quickly. At first taste it was dry tasting almost like a shot of vermouth and I couldn't taste anything else. I said yuck but then the very rich blackberries ...

Re: Tong Xin She (TXS) Teahouse
I've had more than a few things from TXS, whomever is responsible for roasting those teas must like coffee tbh. The roast overpowered the normal profile of yancha. I still have a few tins of txs like dan gui and others that I probably won't ever drink. I remember when someone suggested I try t...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
I picked up some interesting teas from What-cha: Kenya Golden Tips Black Tea, it looks exactly like silver needle but with more body. It has lovely cantaloupe and honeydew notes with the nectar of a good silver needle. I really liked it and it is a perfect sweet spot. I am not sure of the oxidation ...

Re: Where did you get your tea education?
Experience is the best teacher but I have more than a few occasions asked Bok and Octo about some things. They both are thoughtful and cut through the BS. They throw you in the adult pool and just when you are drowning it starts to make sense       I've had some convers...
