Re: How Much Tea Do You Consume Per Day?
How did yours showed/felt after 1 week? Motlys as a powerful migrene coupled with strong irritability. My most intense experience of this is almost a decade past, back when I was drinking plenty of both coffee and tea. It didn't even occur to me that it was withdrawal symptoms at first... Hope thin...

Re: How Much Tea Do You Consume Per Day?
2-3 days in a row or spread out throughout the month?
For me the dependency monster didn't really reveal itself until almost a week without caffeine (this was true both for coffee and tea).

Re: What HeiCha are you drinking
Yes, they are often good value for the money. The Yunshang teas, particularly this line, commands a higher price than that, but the price per gram is still very kind to the wallet. The problem (which is true for most Anhua heichas) is usually that you have to commit to a kilo of tea, sometimes witho...

Re: What HeiCha are you drinking
Snowy day, brewing some of the 2019 Yunshang heizhuan at the home office. There's something magical about working during the "Boxing week", absolutely no disturbances at work. Calls for a different approach to choosing what teas to have and how to brew them.

Re: Your day in tea
Taking a vacation from the holidays at the home office, enjoying some of BSX's 2022 "Junzeyuan" QLC. Hadn't purchases any Anhua heicha for a good 18 months when I bought this, it's a scene in disarray right now. With BSX at least you know the processing is going to be handled well, and I've been wan...

Re: Age oolong 10-15 y tradition ?
One example is the annual "Fucheng Tea Festival" (Tainan, Taiwan) production, which is a longan charcoal roasted ruanzhi/qingxin. There's a bit of info on the Chinese (simplified) Wikipedia , as well as FB . Obviously intended for storing a while, or as they say on the package: "久藏陳韻漸顯風味尤佳" I've bee...

Re: Your day in tea
LeoFox this is very relatable to me. On the rare occasions when I serve tea to people who aren't already deep into the rabbit hole, I will reach for something that's almost impossible to brew in an unpleasant way, and typically brew it relatively light in a large vessel. A dianhong, dongding or a c...

Re: Long-term storage for herbals?
As usual, my recommendation would be mylar bag(s). Perhaps one larger for longer term storage and a smaller (zip lock version) for the short term (i.e. the one you open up for your monthly cup).

Re: Fuzhuan storage advise needed
I don't have any particular experience with fuzhuan, but my guess would be to store them like sheng puerh. As for Mylar bags and mold: if you seal 69% Boveda in a mylar bag with tea, chances are it will eventually start developing some mold, like after a few years. I've made this experience, and it...

Re: Chen YuanHao
Still does not explain why Western prices would be lower for some teas than for the Taiwanese market... that does not make any sense. I think "list price" is the key word here. As noted by Tyler, those are set by the company and often at way above what people are actually paying for them on "the ma...

Re: Your day in tea
501 8542 today. I've been alternating between this and the 801 7542 for ten days or so, using the same big pot every day. They are both in a good place to be enjoyed right now. The 8542, a recipe I have no experience with beside this batch, feels slightly more punchy and powerful and is a little mor...

Re: I need a book
Don’t think there will be any cheap options to get these kinds of books… too niche. So shipping is always a heavy factor. I once sent the whole set of these to a friend, crazy shipping… I don't want a cheap book, I want cheap shipping :) Easy, ask the seller adjust the book price so that it absorbs...

Re: What in the world is Hei JinGang clay?
The link you provided has it as 黑金钢 however, which is a steel processing company and a manufacturer of various home improvement products like caulk and sealants. It is not a clay type what so ever. 钢 means steel. It seems like Yunnan sourcing made a typo… at best. I think it's a typo (or YS just co...

Re: What in the world is Hei JinGang clay?
Of course never with the actual Chinese characters Seems YS actually includes the characters in some listing, e.g. this one . Hei Jin Gang Clay 黑金钢沙 is a blend of Zi Ni (Purple Clay) and Bao Lan Zhu Ni. It's dark in color with some purple and brown with a small amount of sand mixed in. I'd put my m...
