Re: FS- Several Yixing Teapots

Pot 5 - $60 172ml Pigeon Beak zini. Likely a non-Factory 90's repro, but great clay and med-high firing. Good lid fit. 14-hole filter. Cleaned and prepped. https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1785/43048666302_082de53948_z.jpg https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1768/43048667202_e91b88c835_z.jpg https://c1.stat...

Pot 4 - $65 160cc "3 Friends of Winter" Teapot. Nice clay, but not original Factory 1 pot. Probably a repro from the 90's. Re: FS- Several Yixing Teapots

Pot 2 - $95 65cc Nei Zi Wai Hong (zini coated with hongni). Mid-Late 80's Factory 2. I actually like this pot better than the F1 NZWH pots I have owned because of the great size, 7-hole filter, and it seems to be a bit higher fired than F1. Holds heat very well. Some lid wiggle room, but doesn't dr...

Re: Tong-worthy teas

I have not tonged anything, but I have gotten multiple cakes of the 2003 YS Mengsong Qiao Mu Iron Cake. It's great and great value. That one comes in a paper tong though! I have also considered CLT Daydream because it's good price/quality ratio, and the energy/taste was spot on for me. Edit: JK, I'...

In the first picture? It's a flat julunzhu shape, the size is about 120ml.
Yep, I have simple tastes. Love the round bodies, canon spouts, and disc knobs. :D

Sun drying vs indoor/oven drying must have a considerable effect as well.

Re: Duanni clay - underrated clay?

Pretty pots! I imagine you had side by side comparison with a gaiwan? Interesting :) I have encountered old duanni that wasn't very muting, but it looked a bit different from that one... I would expect that one to be muting, but who knows. It looks heavily used, so it might have to do with that. It...

Wow, Beautiful puffy pot(s). Was the body of the duanni teapot you used also fairly thin?
Yes, thin and amazing craftsmanship.

Re: Duanni clay - underrated clay?

I've had green oolongs made in this very teapot. Can confirm vintage duanni is pretty fantastic and does not have to be very muting.

Was it a case of pearls before swine, the nature of group dynamics, or a parade of hippies who used free tea as a reason to meet and gossip over hangovers and sex cults? I dunno. I gave up.
 You just described the Maui tea "scene" perfectly.
