I really like the shape of this pot. I bet it would feel amazing in the hand too.
It does! I always of chocolate chip cookies when I hold it. It is high fired, but at the same time it is quite balanced and does not feel heavy in the hand.

Re: Yixing

@Chadrinkincat eBay? Quite a find. Too bad about the hairline, it could probably be reinforced with staples or maybe urushi.

Re: Yixing

Mark-S I was told by a seller that this tea set was purchased in SF Chinatown in 1948 by her grandmother. She was also selling a bunch of other junk that looked like it was found in an old persons attic. The pot looks old enough to fit with the story I was told. The price was too low and I had to r...

Re: Yixing

- Are some of the LQER "zhuni" pots made of hongni instead? From my understanding, pure zhuni cannot be fired on its own. So it is always blended with another clay, hongni or something else (there was another common one blended with zhuni, but I can't remember the name), or also already fired zhuni...

Re: Yixing

- For example, I have an old zisha kettle, the clay of which reminds me of QSN in terms of it's granularity but overall is red in color very much like hongni (sorry no picture on me). How would one call it? Hong qing shui ni? Isn't red QSN called Hong Pi Long? I've heard hong qing shui ni before too

Re: Yixing

Following the link to teachat that Balthazar posted, I read through the whole thread and saw this comment from kyarazen. Screenshot_20200512-175835__01.jpg I'm curious 1. If that is true, that not many hongni pots were made in the qing dynasty, that most were zhuni and 2. If that's true, then why? W...

Re: Weird stuff in 8582 cake. Anyone know?

I get something very similar looking in some of my cakes. In my case it's dust being crushed and broken off from breaking apart the cake with a tea pick. Nothing to worry about if that's what it is.

Did you also post it in the early teapot group? That would be the better option.
Unfortunately, it's against the rules there as far as I know.
Ahh, because it's a decorated pot? I forgot about that.

Re: Yixing

Tor There are many experienced users in this group that are also in the "Early tea pots II" group, and I already read multiple helpful comments about authentification there. So why would it be a bad idea? There is no better option in my opinion. I cannot fly to China each time I buy a pot and ask f...
