Re: Shu Recommendations for Sheng Lover

I wonder if it’s the lighting. The other cake has 4 photos on their website, the 3rd photo that shows an unwrapped brick on top of two wrapped bricks. The wrappers look somewhat new.

Re: Shu Recommendations for Sheng Lover

I cut my teeth on puer starting in my childhood with shu+chrysanthemum flowers during dim sum; however, when I got seriously into raw puer in my early adulthood I shied away from shu, thinking that it was inferior to aged, raw sheng. I've seen a lot more shu offerings from vendors now, and it's got...

Re: Looking for new tea tray recommendations

This maybe slightly more expensive than your vendors. I have been looking at this vendor’s tea tray lately:

I have too many tea trays, I am trying hard to not adopt anymore :(

We have added new modern Yixings to the site.
You guys are so awesome! Thank you for all the work!
+1 on that. I appreciate shipping time to the United States which my experience was 2-3 weeks. I think if I order from vendors from Canada, it would take about the same amount of time.

Re: Yixing

Question about pot density and types of Pu’erh. In general, is pot density = thickness, how pourous, something else? I’ve heard from a vendor that for aged Shou you want a lower density clay, for new Sheng a higher density clay (to pick a couple mo examples on opposite sides of the scale). So I’m t...

Re: Yixing

Thank you, Bok, DailyTX, and OCTO! I appreciate the advice. Looking forward to getting to know this pot. It's humbling to think about its unlikely journey to the Pacific Northwest. Chris Once you have established a relationship with your pot, you will feel sorry for your pot being lonely, and then ...

Re: Yixing

Beyond very slowly warming them up, are there any special precautions you guys are taking using a LQER pot for the first time? (A few weeks ago I posted that I'd buy one in a few years and bought one a few days after that instead. ) Chris I typically let it bath in filtered room temperature w...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

I'm curious how everyone purchases puerh so that you get older tree material and not some wild bush stuff that is not good at all. Does the verbiage used on vendor's website even match up with reality? I think recognizing older tree materials takes time and patience to learn. Even for vendors, unle...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

DailyTX Thanks for the recommendation. I have a couple yixing pots, and I drink ripe daily. So while I dedicate a pot to a particular ripe, for a couple weeks at a time as I drink through a batch, the idea here is then I'm all of a sudden adding a different ripe tea and possibly using a pot that ot...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

I ordered some aged ripe (90's) that I had sampled a couple months ago. I really enjoyed it, but initially didn't order it was it was above my normal price range (it is .40/g). I'm going to treat myself 1-2x a week to it, when I have time to sit and enjoy it without multitasking. I figure at 6g a b...

Re: Collecting "falling out of love with pu'er" stories from Blogspot

I wonder why they don’t just sell their puerh cakes, I sure there is a market for a 20+ year aged pu. Probably, but I doubt many people are willing to pay much at all for North American / European "home stored" pu unless we're talking famous cakes (or the seller has become internet famous for his/h...

Re: Collecting "falling out of love with pu'er" stories from Blogspot

Very interesting stories. I wonder why they don’t just sell their puerh cakes, I sure there is a market for a 20+ year aged pu. This thread reminded me of a story from a family friend. When I first got into puerh, I did some impulsive purchases for mid 2000 aged Sheng, one of the cakes I owned had a...

Re: Yixing

Came across a teapot on a local Facebook listing and bought it unseen for 5$. Looked like yixing from the one grainy photo that was posted. Picked it up and cleaned it as it was pretty grimy. Still some stains left on it. Reckon it might be slip cast. Victoria assumed the same on discord. 500ml, ox...
