Re: Yixing advice

@pidgeon_smoker Not cheap, but otherwise an excellent choice IMO. I've never thought of any of my yixing pots as too muting.

Re: wine and unglazed ceramic teaware

Some remarks: - the process of making of kvevri wine is quite specific, in particular the wine is aged on skins for like 6 months - the clay from which kvevri jars are made is said to be rich in limestone and contain traces of silver, different clays would likely produce different results - my exper...

offer: Factory 1 kettles

I'm offering 2 Factory 1 kettles/teapots from the green label periods. The come with ceramic basket strainers and were meant as big teapots. Some people use them as kettles, but precautions have to be taken and some risk is inevitable (yixing zisha is simply not a flameware). I've used the big one f...

Re: copper kettles?

Hojo makes a lot strange claims. In this instance he says that tin is great (https://hojotea.com/item_e/tsuiki-doki.htm): " With this copper teapot, the internal tin liner which made of 99.99% of tin significantly improves the intensity of flavor and the depth of after taste. It gives a very clean t...

Re: Teaware You Think We Need:

So now I always dream about another scoop but don't feel like going into 200$ purchase again. Sedlak's wood works are really nice, but for that money you may just carve one yourself. All you need is a piece of wood and a gouge (round chisel): the easiest is if you use green (fresh) wood and rough i...

Re: Date this old TGY

StoneLadle Indeed, this stuff is very common in the "west" too, usually found in chinese grocery stores and herbal pharmacies. One of my first "serious" (lol) teas that I have very fond memories of. The question was more about dating old boxes of this tea and about their quality. Would love to hear...

The paper box version are cheaper and goes for about half the price of this red tin version.
The price of the golden paper box is on par with the yellow paper box, somewhere around $2.50, substantially cheaper then the red tin.
