@Mark-S
This is black bone. I don’t see anything remotely similar going on with your pot.

Re: Yixing
@archimon
Glad to hear I wasn’t wrong about the clay type.
Nothing wrong with going for the cheaper pot. You can always upgrade to something nicer or just stick with this one if its satisfies your needs.

Re: Yixing
It could easily be a mistake in labeling the pot or I could be mistaken about clay. The price suggest it is a coated pot though. Yep, that's true. But the craftsmanship is also not that good. This is not one of their better pots for sure. The lid on this one looks sorta like F2 which is a possibili...

Re: Yixing
archimon That 1st pot doesn’t look like pure hongni. It might be zini coated inside + out w/ hongni which would explain why it is so cheap. The second one is definitely a significantly better pot since it is pre-77 hongni w/o any additives. The EOT pot is a poor choice for Gaoshan due to muting pro...

Re: Yixing
@steanzeI’m not a big fan of that design but it is clearly well done in my opinion. I’m curious to know how much that F1 pot sold for compared the original design you linked to.

Re: Yixing
Unlisted prices are normally start at $1000. That pot is from master/famous section though so it’s probably $$$$. It's by a lesser-known craftsman from the 80s, and it isn't very finely made, so I would be surprised if it's that expensive - but ZAG's prices are on the high side, so it is possible. ...

Re: Yixing
TeaTotaling I'd consider this pot awesome for example: http://zishaartgallery.com/product/研究级高级工艺美术师-丁亚平-za0164/ And it would cost me at least $2000. At least somebody here said that all pots without a price tag would cost +$2000. The "ordinary" F1 pots they sell cost nearly $500, and are often not...

Re: Yixing
Looks more like a modern pot to me. The calligraphy looks handmade to me (you can see the lines they used to get the characters in the right position), so it's not a bad pot for €40. Let's wait until I can take a look at the inside / underside and ask on Facebook. In less then a day I am ready to a...

Re: Yixing
pantry Maybe Taobao is as bad as it's reputation... I don't know. Hopefully, their customer protection is not that bad. More likely it’s because you can’t ship anything to Germany or Europe with normal post, only courier services, which cost a lot more... your book with DHL is probably 80$ only for...

@Mark-S
From my understanding, these marks were used as a way to match lid to body after firing.
