I'm back to mostly pumidors now, and everything tastes pretty good. I still have a couple in zip bags but they dried out too much if not heat sealed.

After a while, I've posted a new, slightly longer-than-normal one. This post is about the difference between beginners and experts in the world of tea.

Re: Showering the pot
Heating the pot yes, of course! Depending on how fragile the clay is, I start from the outside then inside. Non-sensitive clays only inside, as I’m trying to get away from the water splash style and keep things relatively dry. That your tea tastes weaker with a preheated pot, does not makes sense w...

Showering the pot
Hello,
Just wondering, do people shower the pot with hot water before brewing, after brewing, before and after, not at all, or depending? I know it increases heat, but sometimes when I shower before and after the tea is actually weaker. Share your thoughts!

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
2019 White2Tea Astro Kittens BItterness with an underlying dragonwell note. Definite lao man e vibes. Maybe the green tea taste is because it is so young, could visit again in a few months. It's really bitter, and not particularly sweet. There might even be man xing long in here, it seems like all t...

Re: Pumidor discussion
At the tea shop I work at, we had a rainy day and left the door open. Days like these are around 90% humidity if just for a few hours. All the puer cakes smelled quite sweet and seemed very happy. What I'm wondering is, what if you brought your pumidor up to something like 85% for one hour, once a w...

https://crimsonlotustea.com/products/2014-xiaguan-tuo-cha-shou-ripe-puerh-100-grams I always thought this was the Xiao Fa Tuo, but it doesn't have the huge bird on it. Can anyone identify? It's got a nice dry straightforward ripe taste. EDIT: it's a xiao fa tuo. https://teadb.org/puproject/teas/xia...

Okay, I also have similar data from 2005... the belly laughter is quite unnecessary.

Re: My new blog, tea secrets
If it had neither of those, I doubt it would have much body at all. If it had 38mg/L of salt instead of calcium and and magnesium carbonate it would still have the same body. It would taste bad but the viscosity of the water would be the same. Actually, it really does depend. Potassium chloride, co...
