Re: When to ask for a refund on lost shipment

Patience is definitely the key when ordering anything from China. Though it’s usually relatively quick there can always be delays. On a personal note I just got notification from the USPS that my white2tea order sent out on December 12th will be here February 1st. So even with 6-7 weeks of china pos...

2004 Yiwu from Tea Urchin care of Liquid Proust via a tea swap. Infusions forever...all the notes I love with aged sheng...old books, ripe pitted fruit, some damp wood, slight camphor, and resin; even a little shroom. Absolutely beautiful liquor with rich amber hues. Serious mellowing qi. Nice swee...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Much less compressed than the 2015 Brick and much smoother with less bitterness. Thicker mouthfeel too but no real heavily definable tasting notes other than some light tobacco smokiness. 2016 Ba Ya Cake from Hau Ying Chen. A comparison with a previous night’s session with the 2015 Ba Ya Brick. 7776...

I sometimes buy mid 2000s factory pu from Kunming that is horrible when it comes in because it has been stored very dry. After two or three years down here in HK it is completely different and a pleasure to drink!

Re: Aging puerh: what is your setup?

I'm wondering what RH would be considered wet storage? 80%. I'm trying to go for dry storage for my cakes and have them at ~69%. Depends how you define wet storage. I've more recently seen people refer to all teas stored in Southern China/Southeast Asia/Taiwan as wet storage. Nonsense, dry storage ...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

2015 Ba Ya Brick from Hau Ying Chen. So tightly compressed that it took half a dozen infusions and some early light steaming to open up. Some strong astringency and bitterness but also some pleasant raisin and burnt sugar notes. Leaf had an almost seaweed aromatic mixed with pistachio nuttiness befo...

2017 “Planet Kunlu" dragon ball, (‘long zhu' 龙珠), from Crimson Lotus Tea - Kunlu Shan small arbor tree material picked and processed in Spring of 2017 and pressed in the Summer of 2017. Re: Classic pu?

Totally agree with the above responses regarding factory teas as a great baseline. Playing with different years of the same recipes will even bring more depth to your puerh learning. I love boutiques but there is something special about classic factory especially Menghai/Dayi...maybe because it was ...

Re: Classic pu?

Excellent! These are the exact sort of answers I was looking for. Always wondered what the number was for. First two numbers are year of recipe creation, next the grade of leaf and finally factory number. Example: 7542 is 1975 recipe, Grade 4 leaf and factory 2 which in this case is Menghai Tea Fac...
