Re: What Black Are You Drinking

its 3AM here and I am trying to unravel the mystery of Ethan Kurland 's Championship Black. First steep with an accurate glazed teapot I got this orange candy like note that reminded me of drinking Indian teas with a perfect OB sweetness as an aftertaste. The notes changed from steep to steep with s...

Re: Fundamental Gong Fu: Boiling it down to the essence

Save yourself some trouble and don't listen to someone if they say you MUST do something, Thanks for sharing (& it is good to see that I am not the only one who contradicts himself). ? for you: If gong fu is a type of preparation, then some elements of preparation MUST be part of what = a go...

Fundamental Gong Fu: Boiling it down to the essence

Coming from having no experience to some experience in tea brewing I found gong fu brewing to be elaborate and confusing, especially as a westerner. The more you learn about it, the more you know you know not so much . The guides online give you the basics but that comes with their own opinion...

Baozhong first thing in the morning :D :D :D : Having tea early in the morning you can feel the tea warming your stomach, chest, arms and fingers. I'm much more observant in the morning as I am not stressful or angry.. I'll be angry later for sure but lets enjoy this wonderful moment right now...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

"Roasted oolong" from Upton Tea. Tastes like a nice yancha, my guess is that it was sold under dodgy pretenses, but they recognized that the flavor was good so bought it anyway, giving it the appropriate "buyer beware" label. :) This one? https://www.uptontea.com/chinese-oolong-tea/china-loose-leaf...

Re: Your day in tea

I had a great tea session this afternoon, it lowered my stress levels and I could feel the tension in my shoulders melting.
I'm immune to qi most of the time but some effects are easily noticed. A renewed appreciation for tea of course!!

I received my box from aet and it was packed like war rations. This I appreciate because customs mercilessly held me up for a couple months and the box was banged up :D. I've only tried a couple things so far: Wuliang shan Sun Dried Hong Cha: The tasty fruitiness that is characteristic of that regio...

Tokoname Pearskin Teapot by Murakoshi Fugetsu: "Original" and unblended Tokoname Clay. Fired twice(deoxidized), which is a nice sweet spot for me in comparison to my Hojo pots. I have an oxidation mumyoi pot and oxi/reduction Nosaka pots. This teapot enhances the taste while making it smoother and r...

Re: Your day in tea

Here in Florida we are moving into a bit colder Fall weather. A comfortable 60 degrees which is nice but at home for me the motor on the AC unit broke and I have no heat. This makes the house even colder than outside as I have tested myself. It is 15 degrees colder than it is outside but tea came to...

2021 Ming Qian Green Tea from Ha Giang, Vietnam: Slight umami, no bitterness and an aroma like walking through a meadow. Its notes are baozhong like but not as forward. Its soft, sweet and gives off a high elevation mountain air note that was fantastic. I brewed it with very short steeps in a Kohoku...

Re: What are your bad habits during tea sessions?

This isn't necessarily during tea sessions for me, but in general, for my tea-life: craving for more tea. "Hmm, someone blogged about Farmer Leaf, it's been a while since I sampled them, maybe I should order some.." "Oh, this Lazycat Tea sounds like it might actually be a decent yancha vendor, I'd ...
