Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Janice, I had a couple of cups just like that from the same city. I think one of my sisters ended up with them. Of course, I haven't seen them in use. They always return to their old ways for tea, a coffee mug or a glass. Cheers Celadon glazed pottery is supposed to be a traditional craft of the ar...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
I’m running out of storage space for tea, and more is on the way, so I decided to start trying out samples. Today - a 2011 tea from Five Star. The label was hand written so I think it’s Huinen Keng Huang Guan Yin. Anyway, 7 years on a kitchen shelf and it still tastes reasonably good. The cup is a c...

If you check out the Quick Links menu in the upper left corner you'll see that one of the choices is "Active Topics". That might do what you want.

Sometimes autocorrect makes a joke and sometimes an insult. This time it was a joke.

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
I should have realized that in India chai means tea. After that I began ordering masala chai. If I had known about the effect that black tea has on me I could have used it for all-night cream sessions when I was in school - not as useful on vacation. Anyway, loved Jaipur and Agra but now we’re back ...

Re: Tea Trays!
My favorite tea tray is this beauty from Hong Seong-Il. At one point I dropped and broke the upper tray. When I tried to commission Seong-Il to make a replacement he made and sent me 3 upper trays just for the cost of postage. I make good use of the tray’s ability to hold quantities of overflow wate...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
At home I don’t ordinarily drink black tea but .... when in Rome ..... Actually I’m in India, in Jaipur, so I’m having chai on the front terrace of our hotel. I expected a spiced tea but I’m very happy with the plain black tea steeped with milk that I was served.

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
I was rooting through my tea canisters for forgotten tea and discovered that I still have some An Ji Bai Cha on hand. This used to be one of my favorite teas, but even though I bought good quality tea from Jingteashop and brewed it properly I just don’t enjoy Chinese greens the way I once did. All ...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Hi Janice! Glad you enjoyed the complimentary sample! That shuixian was something I purchased to test out for potential sale as a budget shuixian offering, but I felt it wasn't quite what I was looking for. I did like the shuixian more than some of the wholesaler's other Wuyicha offerings, however....

Perhaps this isn’t what you want to hear, but my solution to making yancha affordable is to steep it in very small pots. My favorite pots for yancha are 65 ml and 30 ml.

Gyokuro Goku Uji-Tamara from Thes du Japon. This is one of their less expensive Gyokuro offerings and it’s less intense than more expensive gyos but still has an excellent flavor profile. I like to brew it in this little 50 mm porcelain Kyushu from a Korean potter, Kim Eung Chul. I’ve stopped purcha...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
This morning I’ve been drinking the last of a TeaLifeHK sample of fujian roasted shuixian. When I used the same steeping parameters as the Three Stamps Shuixian I was unenthusiatic. Today I emptied the last of the sample bag into the pot and the extra tea intensified all my favorite aspects of shuix...
