Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?

Went to get water from a local source last week, glad to see its good this year, last year the drought made it change for the worse.

Re: SHINCHA 2019!

Really enjoying both of O-Cha’s Sae Midori shincha, they are complex, refined and so fresh. The 20th anniversary though is sublime with sweet notes of umami, some seaweed, cotton candy and sweet peas... I’m sure someone can describe it better. Getting 3 good steeps from each, and then letting 4th s...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

@gatmcm - Thanks for sharing your impressions on the 2006 T8653 cake -sounds right up my alley. Does this cake reflect what I have heard as a slightly 'newer' style Xiaguan? I have not had any newer Xiaguan..so can't confirm..but what I am asking is this cake similar to the previous years T8653? On...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Back to the 2005 Xiaguan 8653....I too, have been wondering about the different versions of the 2005 8653 offered at King Tea Mall. Do the higher priced versions reflect better storage history??? I need to re-read the discriptions. Speaking of Xiaguan, Norbu has the lovely 2004 Xiaguan Fang Zhuan r...

Re: SHINCHA 2019!

Have gotten my 20th anniversary SM as well, very interesting, quite different from the regular SM. First session, yesterday, was a bit off, my water was a bit too cool, but enjoyed it very much this morning. It has sort of an herbaceous note going on, sorta like pea pods, not sure if I should attrib...

They also have the 20th anniversary special edition in stock ... but won't update their site to accept orders until preorders are done. So just have to be patient!
What do you mean? I ordered a bag of the 20th anniversary just now, or have they updated it since your post

That is great! Hope you enjoy it. Sae Midori is an excellent first time shincha selection ...
Thank you, it was my favourite from the ones I tried last year, added bonus of it being the easiest to brew too

Re: My new blog, tea secrets

gatmcm, you may have noticed that I have avoided the topic of taste and focused on the body of water. I am reluctant to go down the rabbit hole of how various minerals/chemicals/pH attenuate flavor as I have found the results to be much more complicated than "bicarbonate does x" and "calcium carbon...

Re: My new blog, tea secrets

TDS and hardness are often conflated and there's a lot of misinformation around. Hardness pertains to the calcium and magnesium carbonate dissolved in your water. In and of itself, it is only valuable to us tea drinkers because of the deposits that can be left behind in our kettles and teapots. It ...

Re: Online tea stores dispatching from within the EU?

u can mail the vendor and ask if they can mark the parcel for less than 22e. Most vendors do that by default except japanese ones, sadly thats not a solution a lot of the times, in my case customs requests further proof of the value, usually a receit, a bank statement of the payment and a print scr...
