Re: Teaware Comparison Side-by-Side - General Tips
I had some time on the weekend to compare this aged ripe prepared in my yixing pot and a porcelain gaiwan. My overall impression is that I didn't notice much of a difference between methods. I'm terrible at describing my senses, but I would say the yixing yielded a deeper flavour as the tea when dow...

Teaware Comparison Side-by-Side - General Tips
I have some 90's aged ripe shou I'll be getting delivered soon and I'm going to do a side by side tasting with a yixing and porcelain gaiwan. I'm looking for some *general* tips on conducting such a comparison. I say *general* because I don't want to make this a definitive test, where I follow tight...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
Victoria - it's a gyokko (sp?) pot from Camellia Sinensis in Montreal (bought in store, not on their website). I can't recall the correct terminology, but it's dark in colour...mainly deep grey with some subtle red parts. It is fairly smooth. The tea is medium steamed Sencha from TDJ, a 2019 from U...

Re: Yixing
Question about pot density and types of Pu’erh. In general, is pot density = thickness, how pourous, something else? I’ve heard from a vendor that for aged Shou you want a lower density clay, for new Sheng a higher density clay (to pick a couple examples on opposite sides of the scale). So I’m tryin...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
I'm working my way through the last of my 2019 Sencha (stored in a small fridge dedicated to green teas) and had a different experience, or maybe I was just off... Over the last 4-6 months I've been drinking some 2019 Sencha I purchased from Thes Du Japon pre-Shincha ordering (those are up next :D )...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
DailyTX Thanks for the recommendation. I have a couple yixing pots, and I drink ripe daily. So while I dedicate a pot to a particular ripe, for a couple weeks at a time as I drink through a batch, the idea here is then I'm all of a sudden adding a different ripe tea and possibly using a pot that ot...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
I ordered some aged ripe (90's) that I had sampled a couple months ago. I really enjoyed it, but initially didn't order it was it was above my normal price range (it is .40/g). I'm going to treat myself 1-2x a week to it, when I have time to sit and enjoy it without multitasking. I figure at 6g a br...

Re: Aging puerh: what is your setup?
Thought I would give a brief update as I had moved the pumidor a couple months ago. I should note first that I added one boveda pack. RH now around 65-66, up from lower 60's, and when I open the door to take tea out, put it back in within a 1/2 hour it's not dropping as quick as when I did this when...

Re: Yixing
Made some Japanese black tea with the pot just now (blended with Japanese mugwort). Turned out really nice, but the pot has got a messy pour. Very happy with the find, never in my life expected to come across something like this in this part of the country! Northern Norway, that is a find! And for ...

Re: Collecting "falling out of love with pu'er" stories from Blogspot
I’m going to avoid reading these stories as I already have an idea where they lead, and I don’t see myself becoming “one of them” I work in risk management and while I don’t avoid risk all together, I’m careful about most things...including tea and teaware. I did take a plunge with Pu’erh this...

Re: Tea Exploration By Region:
klepto that sounds like an interesting, and possibly expensive, idea. But I like it! What I think would really highlight a regions ‘taste’ over another is if the tea was from the same year (that’s at least one possibly differentiating factor you can lock down, there are many more of course). I’m st...

Clogged Strainer
Over years of use my stainless steel strainer that I sit on top of a cha hai has become clogged. Any tips on cleaning it to remove whatever oils and bits have built up over time?
